The New York Jets are projected to trade up in the 2026 NFL Draft, potentially moving ahead of the Dallas Cowboys to select a top cornerback prospect. They hold multiple high picks, including the No. 2 overall pick and the 16th pick, which may be used in the trade.

Coming into the 2026 NFL Draft, the New York Jets have a ton of ammo to select multiple players inside the top two rounds. They own the No. 2 overall pick, but also the 16th, 33rd, and 44th picks in this year's draft class.
With such great picks at their disposal, the Jets coming out of the draft with multiple starters is a must. And while the No. 2 pick is theirs for the taking, the 16th pick might be one the Jets look to trade to move up the board.
NFL.com's Matt Okada projects Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey will swing such a trade, this projection having the Jets leap in front of the Dallas Cowboys by swinging an intra-division trade to draft one of the top cornerbacks of the draft class.
"NFL IQ has identified the Cowboys as the most likely landing spot for Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy," Okada writes. "...but new Jets GM Darren Mougey knows that as well."
With the Cowboys likely to have interest in Jermod McCoy, one of the top cornerbacks in the class alongside Mansoor Delane, the Jets might need to move up in the draft to acquire McCoy.
The projected trade Okada presents would have the Jets jumping up to the 11th pick in the NFL Draft, owned by the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins.

New York would be sending the 16th and 103rd picks in this year's draft, along with a 2027 fourth-rounder, to move up from five spots to land the second cornerback off the board in this hypothetical scenario.
With the Jets needing more cornerback help, they could look to address wide receiver down the board and go with a cornerback prospect to help finally secure an interception during Glenn's tenure as head coach.
Cornerback is a need for the Jets, and Okada's projected trade with the Dolphins wouldn't cost too much, and allow the Jets to steal one of the top corners in this year's draft right in front of the Cowboys' 12th overall draft pick.
