Jets sign RB Breece Hall to three-year, $45.75 million extension

NEW YORK — Jets general manager Darren Mougey said he would address Breece Hall‘s contract situation following the draft.

He was a man of his word, because on Friday, the Jets officially inked their star running back to an extension.

Gang Green and Hall have agreed to a three-year, $45.75 million contract, sources confirm. NFL Network first reported the news of Hall’s contract extension. That now makes Hall the third-highest-paid running backin terms of annual money ($15.25 million) behind the Eagles’ Saquon Barkley and 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey.

Hall, 24, was scheduled to test free agency for the first time in his career in March. The Jets selected him in the second round in 2022, and Hall didn’t have the fifth-year option as first-round picks do.

However, ahead of free agency, the Jets placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Hall, which ensured he would stay in a Jets uniform for another season. He was scheduled to earn $14.293 million during the 2026 season had he played on the tender.

Hall has not attended the start of the Jets’ offseason program. This is not uncommon for players who have been placed with the franchise tag.

The plan was always to keep Hall in a Jets uniform after they decided against dealing him at the trade deadline last November, even as they traded both Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams following a 1-7 start. With two months ahead of the July 15 deadline for tagged players to sign multi-year extensions, the Jets will now keep Hall under contract until after the 2028 season.
