It only took two games for the reigning NBA champion's latest playoff opponent to crash out. Going up 2-0 after a 125-107 Game 2 win, the Oklahoma City Thunder went through the same song and dance as the Los Angeles Lakers went viral for their postgame comments.
The Thunder committed 21 fouls and went 21-of-26 on free throws. The Lakers committed 26 fouls and went 18-of-21 on free throws. Even though those numbers were within the same ballpark, JJ Redick went viral for comments that'll probably cost him some money.
Redick believes LeBron James didn't get his fair share of routine calls that most NBA superstars usually get. The 41-year-old finished with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting and six assists. He shot 4-of-4 on free throws. For comparison, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shot 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
JJ Redick stated that LeBron James has the 'worst whistle' he's seen for an NBA superstar, implying that LeBron doesn't get the usual foul calls.

"LeBron has the worst whistle of any star player I’ve ever seen," Redick said. "I mean, I’ve been with him two years now. There’s, again, the smaller guys, because they can be theatric, they typically draw more fouls, and the bigger players that are built like LeBron, it’s hard for them. He gets clobbered."
While Redick is being a bit hyperbolic, it's part of the Lakers' new strategy as the Round 2 series pivots to Los Angeles. A group of players confronted the referees after the final buzzer. That's not really a sight you see. Reaves led the charge as he was one of the more vocal guys to express his disagreement with their calls and non-calls.
We'll see if Redick's comments change anything. To be honest, Gilgeous-Alexander's foul trouble should've been enough to get some sorta edge. He only logged 28 minutes and sat out for nearly 10 consecutive minutes when he picked up his fourth foul in the early stages of the second half.
Instead, all that did was allow the Thunder's second-unit lineup to run away with the game. The talent discrepancy is just too wide between these two squads. We'll see if the Lakers can shift this Round 2 series, but OKC has gone up two wins by double-digit points. Not the best sign that this matchup can turn competitive.
