For most of Game 5 on Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics appeared to be in control. They had a solid lead for much of the game and went ahead by double digits in the third quarter, seemingly poised to put the Philadelphia 76ers away.
The Celtics failed to bury the Sixers, however, letting them hang around and go on a late run. Boston wasn't able to respond, missingĀ 16 straight field goal attempts to end the game and suffering an embarrassingĀ 113-97 loss at TD Garden.
Now, the Celtics must return to Philadelphia for GameĀ 6 on Thursday.
While Joe Mazzulla can be blunt at times during his press conferences, he struck a surprisingly optimistic tone in the aftermath of Tuesday's defeat.
When asked what he told his team, Mazzulla said the following:

Mazzulla's right. It was one bad quarter in an otherwise good game for Boston, so the team shouldn't get too down on itself.
On the bright side, the Celtics are still up 3-2 in the series and have two more chances to close out theĀ 76ers. They're the better team overall and have been the better team in this series, so they just need to play like it on Thursday.
