The Philadelphia 76ers continue to have an issue with their injuries, especially with Joel Embiid. He has been with the team for a long time, serving as the longest-tenured player on the current roster.
Unfortunately, he has suffered plenty of injuries throughout his career. Now, he has just had surgery due to appendicitis, which should not take too long to recover from. But it will cause him to miss the 76ers' Play-In Tournament game against the Orlando Magic.
During his playing career, Embiid has become synonymous with injuries. It is a big deal because most people would agree that he is one of the most talented players in the NBA.
That is proven by his success, including the MVP award in 2023. Unfortunately, he can't stay healthy, which is one of the biggest parts of being a basketball player. He has faced plenty of injuries, but this latest one is hard to avoid.

Unfortunately for the 76ers, he will not be present in a crucial game against the Magic. This means the rest of the team has to step up, so Tyrese Maxey will serve as the go-to guy once again.
Thankfully, he has some good teammates now with the likes of rookie VJ Edgecombe and veteran Paul George. It will be challenging, but they are ready to step up for head coach Nick Nurse.
"He's not expected to play during the Play-In tournament. My understanding is he's in the very early stages of his recovery process from appendicitis. He has to recover first, then there will be a separate physical part of the rehab as well," ESPN's Shams Charania revealed on NBA Today.
Moving forward, the 76ers will want Embiid to be healthy. If they beat the Magic in the Play-In game, they secure a spot in the Playoffs. Embiid will have some time to recover and possibly play against the Boston Celtics.
Nothing is set in stone just yet, as Nurse and his players have to beat the Magic first. It will be challenging, but the 76ers are used to playing without Embiid, so they can still be a dangerous team to play against.
