John Gibson, the Detroit Red Wings goalie, left the game against the Philadelphia Flyers in the second period after taking a hit. Cam Talbot replaced him in net as the Wings continued the match.
The Detroit Red Wings had to finish their latest game without their most valuable player.
Goaltender John Gibson left midway through the second period on Thursday, April 9, shortly after the Phialdelphia Flyers had scored to edge within two goals of the Wings. There was nothing directly that happened at that time, at 10:40, but Gibson did absorb a hit early in the period when Flyers forward Owen Tippett knocked down Gibson. Tippett was penalized on the play.
