John Mellberg returns to training
Good news from our training ground: John Mellberg was back on the pitch with our Red Bulls today for the first time. For the young Swede, it's a return he and all of us have been waiting for.
John's last competitive match was on 23 June 2025 at the Club World Cup against Al Hilal – after which a knee injury and subsequently a thigh injury forced him to take a long break from the pitch. The 19-year-old has put that chapter behind him and finally trained with the team again.
He started with a success. In the training challenge, John proved he hasn't lost his touch. His team dominated the shooting game and took home the day's victory. A great day back at the office!
