Defender Jorrel Hato put up a good fight against Man City yesterday, and is convinced his team still have a chance to make the top five despite all signs being against that.
“We still have a very good chance to get Champions League football for next season, but we know we need to be better in our performances,” the Dutch defender said in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.
“For a club like Chelsea, we expect to be competing at the top and we want to reach the Champions League next season again. So we have to improve, and we have to be better.
“We have six games left in the Premier League so we have a lot to fight for but we know we need to improve, forgot this one quickly and move onto another big game next week.”
We can try to “forget this one,” the problem is it was a pretty bad one. What makes anyone think next week is going to be any better?
Hato also pointed to Chelsea’s inability to recover after a small setback as a major weakness of the team – we’ve heard similar from the manager.
The fans made their feelings known with some sarcastic cheers for one thing the Blues were able to pull off in the second half.
