Josh Hokit to fight at UFC White House without his legendary coach over ‘personal reasons’

Josh Hokit is gearing up for the biggest fight of his career, but he’ll be doing it without Greg Jackson in his corner.

The former NFL player, whose transition to MMA has split opinion, recently broke into the top five heavyweight rankings and was added to the UFC White House card after his performance against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327. Now, he’s preparing for an even bigger stage without one of the sport’s most respected coaches backing him.

Hokit has been active on social media since his win over Blaydes, keeping fans updated and sharing insights from training. On Friday night, he confirmed that his upcoming bout with Derrick Lewis will be under new leadership in his corner.

Hokit, who trained under Greg Jackson at the renowned Albuquerque gym, quickly made a name for himself in the sport. He was joined by former UFC fighters Jon Jones and Holly Holm, who also trained there over the years.

The transition into fighting was seamless for Hokit, as he became one of the top five heavyweights with only nine professional fights. But he revealed today that his tenth bout won’t have Jackson in his corner.

Hokit took to X to post: “My coach Greg Jackson will not be coaching me on the White House fight for personal reasons… I don’t have a coach now… Will the ring girls corner me please? Tag them for me.”

Jackson has yet to speak publicly about his absence or what exactly led him to this decision. There hasn’t been anything pointing toward political reasons. The fight itself came together after President Donald Trump and Joe Rogan pushed Dana White during cageside discussions at UFC 327.
