It seems like every recent offseason has had at least one ārumorā that Josh Hubbard was considering a transfer to Kentucky Basketball (Hubbard even seemed to jump in on the fun this offseason).
We can finally put those to rest for good, as Hubbard announced Friday that he will return to the Mississippi State Bulldogs for his final season of college basketball.
Set to become the Bulldogsā all-time leading scorer in program history, Hubbard is only 195 points away from reaching that mark and should hit it before conference play even begins next season. He averaged 22.1 points, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game last season while shooting 34.7% on a whopping 8.6 3-point attempts per game.
Hubbard arrived in Starkville in 2023 as Mississippiās all-time leading high school scorer with 4,367 career points, so heās already reached legendary status in the state, and heāll finish what he started with one final go-round with the Bulldogs.
One of the last guys you want to see on a scouting report but would love to see playing for your team, Hubbard has routinely blitzed Kentucky, going for 19, 29, 35, and 37 points in four matchups with the Wildcats. Those included 91-89 and 95-90 thrillers between the Wildcats and Bulldogs in Starkville.
Look for Hubbard to once again be at or near the top of SEC scorers next season after finishing second this year behind projected top-five NBA Draft pick Darius Acuff.
