Journalist confirms it: Liverpool now in concrete talks for €100m dream signing

Liverpool are reportedly in talks to complete arguably the biggest transfer this summer.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claims Liverpool have now started the process to sign Yan Diomande. The journalist says a move has been approved by the higher-ups at the club and the Ivorian is now the no.1 target.

There are apparently ‘concrete talks’ with the player’s representatives - though, that hasn’t extended to discussions with RB Leipzig. Still, that now feels inevitable.

There’s no agreement with Diomande, either, and Paris Saint-Germain may yet get involved here. Liverpool will hope they’ve stolen a march on the Parisians by kicking off their discussions early.

There’s no question that signing Diomande would be a coup for the Reds, either. He’s been absolutely extraordinary since breaking into senior football at Leganes around 18 months ago and his efforts for RB Leipzig have shown a remarkable ability to adapt quickly.

Not that Diomande would come cheap. Suggestions of €100m are likely accurate and Leipzig, who still hope to renew his contract, know they’ve got an enormously valuable player here.
