Liverpool is in concrete talks to sign Ivorian player Yan Diomande for €100 million. The transfer has been approved by the club's higher-ups, making him their top target this summer.
Journalist confirms it: Liverpool now in concrete talks for €100m dream signing
Liverpool are reportedly in talks to complete arguably the biggest transfer this summer.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claims Liverpool have now started the process to sign Yan Diomande. The journalist says a move has been approved by the higher-ups at the club and the Ivorian is now the no.1 target.
There are apparently ‘concrete talks’ with the player’s representatives - though, that hasn’t extended to discussions with RB Leipzig. Still, that now feels inevitable.
There’s no agreement with Diomande, either, and Paris Saint-Germain may yet get involved here. Liverpool will hope they’ve stolen a march on the Parisians by kicking off their discussions early.
There’s no question that signing Diomande would be a coup for the Reds, either. He’s been absolutely extraordinary since breaking into senior football at Leganes around 18 months ago and his efforts for RB Leipzig have shown a remarkable ability to adapt quickly.
Not that Diomande would come cheap. Suggestions of €100m are likely accurate and Leipzig, who still hope to renew his contract, know they’ve got an enormously valuable player here.
Liverpool may have found their star summer signing, then. Potentially, the biggest signing anyone makes in 2026.
Bundesliga Breakthrough and Statistical Profile
As of 21 April 2026, Yan Diomandé has emerged as one of the Bundesliga's most electric talents during a standout campaign with RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old Ivorian winger has recorded 12 goals and six assists in 31 league appearances, maintaining an impressive average FotMob rating of 7.63. Known for his explosive pace and technical proficiency, Diomandé recently bolstered his goal tally with a strike in a 3–1 away win over on 18 April. His statistical profile is elite, ranking in the 93rd percentile for goals among European wingers this season, which has seen his market valuation soar to approximately €75–85 million since joining from CD Leganés in 2025.
The transfer fee for Yan Diomande is reported to be €100 million.
Liverpool's top transfer target this summer is Yan Diomande.
While Liverpool has started talks with Yan Diomande's representatives, discussions with RB Leipzig have not yet occurred but are expected.

Transfer Saga and Salah Succession
Diomandé is currently at the centre of a high-stakes transfer battle involving Europe's elite clubs. Reports on 21 April 2026 suggest that Liverpool have "unanimously approved" the teenager as the primary successor to Mohamed Salah, who is expected to depart Anfield this summer. While the Reds have initiated contact with his representatives at Roc Nation Sports, Paris Saint-Germain—led by Luis Campos—have also held formal meetings to hijack the deal. RB Leipzig remain desperate to retain their star, reportedly offering an improved contract to increase his valuation toward €100 million. With Manchester United and Arsenal also monitoring the situation, Diomandé is expected to be one of the most significant movers of the 2026 summer window.
