Alexander Isak’s struggles are particularly worrying. A £125million forward should be carrying the attack, not being questioned for output and fitness. Cody Gakpo’s form has also dipped at the wrong time, while Rio Ngumoha is clearly one for the future rather than the present.
The call to sign two attackers feels less like a suggestion and more like a necessity. Liverpool cannot afford to place the burden of replacing Salah on one signing, especially given the pressure that will come with it.
