Barcelona plan to sign a new striker this summer, with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez being their priority target.
Alvarez is under contract until 2030, but he is open to leaving Atletico. When asked about his future last month, he said “Maybe I will continue, I may not, you never know.”
The Argentine is also wanted by Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, but he favours a move to Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report claims Alvarez is tempted by a move to Arsenal, but he does not want to return to the Premier League after his experience at Manchester City.
Despite the appeal of working under manager Luis Enrique and the financial incentives on offer, Alvarez is also said to be unconvinced about joining PSG.
Alvarez is expected to be the first choice at Barcelona, with Robert Lewandowski playing as back-up if the Polish forward extends his contract beyond this summer.
Barcelona are not prepared to pay more than €100 million for him, less than they paid Atletico for Antoine Griezmann in 2019.

The Roji Blancos would be reluctant to sell Alvarez, given his crucial role in the team. The imminent departure of Griezmann to Major League Soccer side Orlando City in the summer further complicates things.
Majority shareholders Apollo Sports Capital reportedly want to strengthen the squad. Alvarez’s sale would go against those plans.
However, they could be tempted to sell if Barcelona submit a club record deal.
The 26-year-old joined Atletico in 2024 from Man City. He has chipped in with 48 goals and 17 assists in 104 appearances across all competitions.
