In a major development, TNT Sports Mexico suggests that Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez may have taken a further step towards a potential transfer to FC Barcelona next season.
The 26-year-old forward is the Catalans’ top target for the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen the No. 9 position, with Robert Lewandowski expected to move on.
Atletico Madrid, for their part, have been firm on their stance that the Argentine international is not for sale this summer.
Alvarez, though, is understood to be keen on making the switch to Barça and the latest development may be a huge hint about a potential transfer.
Indeed, as per TNT Sports Mexico journalist Emiliano Raggi, Alvarez has already started looking for a house in the city.
The journalist claims that the World Cup-winning Argentine striker sent his two brothers to Barcelona on Friday to visit several properties.

It is claimed that Alvarez’s brothers explored areas such as Castelldefels, where Lionel Messi still owns a house, as well as the Les Corts district, where the Spotify Camp Nou is located.
This could be a major indicator that the striker is indeed leaning towards a switch to Barcelona and it might be an indirect message to Atletico that he wants to leave.
It must be remembered that after the Rojiblancos’ Champions League Round-of-16 tie against Tottenham Hotspur, Alvarez had left the door open for an exit, saying:
“I don’t know. Maybe yes, maybe no, you never know. But I’m very happy here. They asked me a question that will be repeated everywhere.”
