It was a significant development in the context of Lewandowski’s future, with the Pole’s contract at Barcelona expiring at the end of the season.
Although Lewandowski does have a contract renewal offer at Barcelona, the Catalans are asking the striker to take up large concessions in terms of salary – something that does not excite the player.
A recent report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Diario SPORT) now suggests that Juventus are best-positioned to acquire the services of Lewandowski this coming summer.
Zahavi is expected to travel to Italy next week to hold talks with Juventus CEO Damien Comolli, who is responsible for squad planning at the Turin club.

Set for a move to Barcelona this summer? (Photo by Aitor Alcalde/Getty Images)
The Italian publication reports that Juventus view Lewandowski as exactly the kind of player coach Luciano Spalletti needs to provide an offensive boost, particularly with the future of Dusan Vlahovic still unresolved.
AC Milan have also been credited with interest, and given the proximity of the two cities, it would not be surprising if Zahavi’s Italian trip incorporated meetings with both clubs.
Back in Catalonia, Barcelona are handling the situation with considerable care. The club have honoured president Joan Laporta’s promise by presenting Lewandowski with a renewal offer for one additional season, and are now awaiting his response.
However, there is no longer a consensus internally about his future. His influence on the team has waned, and should he choose to leave, Barcelona would gain significant financial flexibility to pursue their summer targets.
