LSU football cornerback Mansoor Delane has been drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs picked Delane with the No. 6 overall selection in the first round Thursday night in Pittsburgh after trading with the Cleveland Browns. Entering the draft, LSU's top defensive prospect was projected to be an early first-round draft choice coming off the board as high as No. 6 or falling as low as No. 12 on Day 1 of the NFL draft.

According to ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr., Kansas City moving up to grab Delane with the No. 6 overall pick that he felt like it was a "bit of a risk" as he had him as the 14th overall best player.
With recent moves that the Chiefs have made with trading Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in March, they had a significant need at the cornerback position. Kansas City moved up in the draft to make sure it could draft Delane, as many mock drafts had the Washington Commanders, who had the No. 7 overall pick, selecting the LSU cornerback.

Mansoor Delane played his first three seasons in college at Virginia Tech. He transferred to LSU for his senior season.
Delane burst onto the scene in Baton Rouge in his first game with the Tigers at Clemson in prime time. He picked off a pass from Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, who is also an NFL draft prospect this year, and also had two pass breakups.
