Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver KC Concepcion was among the class's most promising targets in 2025, riding a wave of highlights and strong production to the early rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Now, he seems destined for the top 50 picks. More likely than not, he'll be a first-round pick.
However, Concepcion is currently seen as a second-tier receiver in a relatively strong class, grouped with the Denzel Bostons and Germie Bernards of the world, rather than the trio of Makai Lemon, Carnell Tate, and Jordyn Tyson that is expected to go in the first half of Day 1.
With just days until he learns his fate, Concepcion took to The Players' Tribune to make his case as WR1.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Concepcion shed light on a childhood stutter that shaped his perspective. Almost instantly, it went viral. It was a heartfelt story, a tale of someone overcoming adversity, and a new piece of information that the football world hadn't been privy to.
And so the story ran, and ran, and ran. It essentially defined Concepcion to the fan not tuned into yards per route run and SEC playoff odds.
That's not ideal, even if it's ultimately a positive story. Thus, Concepcion told the story of his stutter, along with the rest of his childhood, tracking his growth along the way. He explained what makes him the man he is as much as the receiver he's become, and argued that he should be the first receiver off the board.
KC Concepcion is expected to be a top 50 pick, with a strong possibility of being selected in the first round.
Makai Lemon, Carnell Tate, and Jordyn Tyson are the top wide receivers projected to be drafted before KC Concepcion.

"My stutter is part of who I am, but it’s not all of who I am," Concepcion wrote. "So, I figured … since I’ve got the pen this time, let me tell you the more complete story.
"Here’s who I also am: I’m the best receiver in this draft. Period.
"I run crisp routes. I catch everything thrown anywhere near me. I work my tail off every practice, every drill. I get in and out of my breaks fast. And I will outwork ANYBODY you put in front of me."
Concepcion's play backs up his words, even if his profile isn't quite as pristine as the receivers projected ahead of him. He's one of the class's best route runners, and his speed threatens to take the top off of defenses. It also makes him useful after the catch; in 2025, he generated over seven extra yards with the ball in his hands.
Despite a merely average frame (5'11", 196 pounds), Concepcion exhibited growth in contested-catch situations. He's hovered around a 10% drop rate, which isn't ideal, but that's not always easy to translate.
"Before I get out of here, I do want to say, once again, for all to hear, that I’m the best receiver in this draft," Concepcion emphasized. "But, at the end of the day, I’m so much more than just a football player. And any team that picks me is going to realize that immediately. So if you’re a GM out there reading this, put me on your team, and let’s get to work.
"You’re not going to regret calling my name."
Concepcion's character has never been a question, and the buzz coming from big draft media suggests he's passed every test. For a team looking to break ties on its board at the end of Round 1, those soft factors matter.
As an instant starter with versatility and athleticism to his name, Concepcion has all the ingredients to become a fan favorite this fall.
