While Kentucky Basketball is still waiting on its next transfer commitment, it did get a little bit of good news Saturday morning.
On3’s Jamie Shaw gave an update on several transfer portal recruits, including Sebastian Rancik, who just finished a visit to Lexington.
According to Shaw, Florida State is Kentucky’s biggest competitor for the Colorado forward, but the Wildcats are picking up steam, and a decision could be coming soon.
“One source told me that Kentucky has momentum. I also know that Florida State still feels like they are in this one. This one feels like it is coming to an end,” wrote Shaw.
This past season, the 6-11, 220-pound native of Slovakia averaged 12.3 points on 40.4% shooting (33.1% on 4.1 3-point attempts per game), 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 28.1 minutes per game. He’s the son of former Iowa State player Martin Rancik, who had a long professional career in the international basketball ranks.
Another bit of good news came in the recruitment of Terrence Brown, who was set to visit on Friday but had to postpone due to a family matter.
According to Shaw, Brown is still planning to take more visits, so it sounds like Kentucky will still get the Utah guard on campus at some point.
The 6-3, 175-pound Brown averaged 19.9 points on 45.3% shooting (32.7% on 3.1 3-point attempts per game), 3.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 31.5 minutes per game last season.
Sebastian Rancik recently visited Kentucky, and the program is gaining momentum in his recruitment, with a decision expected soon.
Florida State is currently Kentucky's biggest competitor for Sebastian Rancik's commitment.
Sebastian Rancik finished his visit to Kentucky on February 21, 2026.
