We’re another day into the off-season for Kentucky basketball and head coach Mark Pope is grinding away to try and rebuild his team after losing more than a handful of his players to the NBA Draft, graduation and the transfer portal.
So far, the Wildcats have reeled in Mason Williams (No. 12 recruit in the 2026 high school class) and Zoom Diallo (former Washington Huskies guard who averaged 15 points per game in his second season this past year) but they are far from finishing out their roster.
Most recently visiting Kentucky was Sebastian Rancik, a former forward for Colorado who is coming off a much-improved sophomore season. He had a jump of seven points per game, three rebounds per game and nearly two assists per game.
He’s known for his passing on the interior and ability to score inside, which would help tremendously compared to how Kentucky was unable to make plays from inside and/or around the post this past season.
While schools like Indiana and BYU are also in the mix, Kentucky should be able to make an offer that’s worth considering coming to Lexington over either school — especially considering the opportunities he’ll have in what is currently an unfilled roster.
As of today, in addition to Williams & Diallo, Kentucky is projected to bring back Braydon Hawthorne, Kam Williams, Malachi Moreno, Reece Potter and Trent Noah. Throw in Rancik and they still have several holes to fill.
Stay tuned for the latest on his commitment and other players Pope is looking to bring to Big Blue Nation.
