Atlanta Falcons' third-round draft pick Zachariah Branch is praised for his elite speed, despite concerns about his size and route tree. Head coach Kevin Stefanski expresses confidence in Branch's fit within the team's offense.
Avieon Terrell joining his brother in the Atlanta Falcons' defensive backfield is a nice feel-good story. However, the most popular pick the Falcons made in the draft this year is easily former Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch, who went to Atlanta in the third round at No. 79 overall.
Branch is undersized as hell for a pro wide receiver, but he also has the kind of elite speed that the Falcons haven't had at the position in a long time.
There are some who question whether Branch is really a fit for Atlanta's offense, though. One analyst from CBS Sports questioned his size as well as his limited route tree in college, for example.
One guy who isn't concerned about how Branch fits is new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski. Here's what he had to say about Branch, per Marc Raimondi at ESPN.
"We've spent a lot of time with him, the coaches have, and he really has a great schematic fit, also a great personal fit for what we believe in and how hard he works," Stefanski said. "But just a player that you can really line up all over the field."
Stefanski also lauded Branch's ability on special teams, where he's a dynamic return specialist who scored multiple touchdowns in college.
Penciling Branch in as the team's top kick and punt returner is an easy move, but the real question is how fast he can pick up Stefanski's offense and if he can establish himself as the No. 2 wide receiver after Drake London. Branch will have to prove his size is not a serious impediment and that he can thrive in a more diverse role.

Zachariah Branch is considered a popular pick due to his elite speed, which the Falcons have lacked at the wide receiver position.
