Key dates of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s tenure as PSG president, as the Qatari celebrates his 800th match
This Wednesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain’s home match against FC Nantes will not only be an opportunity for the capital club to cement their position at the top of the Ligue 1 table. It will also hold a special symbolic significance, as it marks Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s 800th match as president of Les Rouge et Bleu.
Appointed at the helm of PSG on 4th November 2011, following the club’s takeover by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the Qatari is celebrating, nearly 15 years later, his 5,283th day as president of the Parisian club. A record in the history of the 1970-founded institution.
Under his leadership, the first team racked up no fewer than 40 trophies, including 11 French league titles and the coveted Champions League trophy on 31st May. On 30th May 2015, following their victory over Auxerre, PSG became the first club in Europe’s top leagues to win the domestic quadruple. They went on to repeat this feat three times, in 2016, 2018 and 2020, before achieving the sextuple in 2025.
Often criticised, rightly or wrongly, there is no denying Al-Khelaïfi’s impact on PSG’s history. And not just in terms of his victories on the pitch. For it was also under his impetus, on 1st October 2016, that the return of the Ultras to the Auteuil stand was officially confirmed. But more was needed to help the Parisians truly enter a new era. That is why he was keen to create the PSG Campus, a state-of-the-art training centre equipped with ultra-modern facilities, the inauguration of which, on 21st November 2024, undoubtedly marked a new turning point for the club.
