Sean Strickland produced a major upset at UFC 328, beating Khamzat Chimaev by split decision to become middleweight champion again.
The 35-year-old American entered as the underdog, but left with the belt after surviving the Chechenâs early pressure and taking control later.
That result created major questions around the division. However, Chimaevâs camp already has a clear plan, including the place and date they want next.

Speaking to Sports RU (via Championship Rounds), Artur Chimaev said his brother wants an immediate rematch with Strickland rather than moving away from the division.
He revealed: âWeâve requested a rematch with Strickland. Thereâs an event in Abu Dhabi in October and we want to do it there.
âKhamzat isnât the type of person to move to another weight class and leave unanswered questions behind. We want the second fight. Right now we have no other goals.â
That message contrasts with Dana Whiteâs post-fight comments, after the UFC CEO said âBorzâ had asked him about moving up in weight.
The rematch push comes after Chimaevâs weight cut became a talking point, with the former champion appearing visibly drained before the fight and his brother also addressing that matter.
âThere was a problem with the weight cut. The question became whether to cancel the fight or take the risk,â Artur said.
âWhen there was 1.2 kg left, his body shut down⊠Oxygen deprivation. His body malfunctioned.
