Formula 1 competed in Miami, but it took some maneuvering. The sport had to move the start time to 1:00 p.m. ET to avoid the thunderstorms later in the day. It was a wild start, as Max Verstappen spun out, and the chaos continued throughout the rest of the event. At the end of the day, it was another win for a Mercedes driver.
Kimi Antonelli and the No. 12 team for Mercedes won the Miami Grand Prix, earning their third victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season. After Antonelli jumped Lando Norris in the pit stop cycle, he held off the McLaren driver for the rest of the race. The driver of the No. 12 car wasn't comfortable because he was dealing with issues in the vehicle.
It has been an outstanding start to the 2026 Formula 1 season for Antonelli, who has won the last three races. The Mercedes driver has a 20-point lead over George Russell in the point standings, and even though it is early, that is a healthy gap. Antonelli continues to win and hopes to carry his momentum into Canada later in May.
