King Green and Jeremy Stephens meet on the UFC 328 main card Saturday at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Green (34-17-1 MMA, 15-12-1 UFC) will look to make it three wins in a row for the first time since 2020. Green enters on the heels of a split decision over Lance Gibson Jr. in December and a second-round TKO finish of Daniel Zellhuber in February.
Back for the third time, Stephens (29-22 MMA, 15-19 UFC) is one loss away from a dubious UFC record of 20. Stephens' last MMA fight was a one-stop return in the UFC to face Mason Jones last May, which he lost by unanimous decision. After returning to BKFC for one appearance, he's back in the UFC again to take on Green, hunting for his first MMA win since June 2022.
Kicking off the main card in classic Joe Silva fashion is a lightweight action fight between veterans King Green and Jeremy Stephens.
Green is among the standings of fighters with the most fights in the octagon, while Stephens, who is the UFC's junkyard dog that eventually learned to work his own chain, originally debuted in the organization when Chuck Liddell was still champion.
I think that Stephens is livelier than the current odds indicate, and I believe that his move to Xtreme Couture MMA was a good thing for him ahead of this fight. That said, I suspect that the striking savvy of Green will give Stephens a lot of early problems inside the larger octagon.
I feel like this fight is ending in a knockout one way or another, so I'll somewhat reluctantly take Green to get it done by Round 3.
The oddsmakers and the public favor the king, listing Green -385 and Stephens +290 via FanDuel.
As the main card opener, Green and Stephens are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:10 p.m. ET. The fight streams live on .
King Green has a record of 4-2 in his last six fights, with two recent wins by split decision and TKO.
