Knaak's late goal sends Man City to brink of title
Manchester City's title hopes were given a huge lift as Rebecca Knaak scored deep into stoppage time to seal a dramatic 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Women's Super League.
For long spells, City looked set to drop valuable points at a crucial stage of the season. Liverpool were organised, dangerous on the break and created the better openings in the first half, with Grace Fisk hitting the post from a corner. Aurélie Csillag and Denise O'Sullivan also tested the home side as City struggled to find any rhythm.
The hosts offered little before the break, with Khadija Shaw's close-range effort their only real threat.
City improved after half-time and began to take control. Kerolin forced an excellent save from Jennifer Falk, while Shaw was also denied as the pressure increased. Liverpool still carried a threat, though, with Beata Olsson and both going close as the game opened up late on.
The final score was 1-0 in favor of Manchester City.
