Lajae Jones, a 6'7" guard, has been invited by the New York Knicks for a pre-draft workout. He previously played for Florida State after transferring from Tarleton State and Barton Community College.
Florida State basketball has been putting talent into the NBA for many years, with guys like Johnathan Isaac of the Magic and Scottie Barnes of the Raptors, just to name a few. Lajae Jones will have the opportunity to add his name to that list.
Ian Begley reported that the New York Knicks have invited Jones to a pre-draft workout with the team, which he announced on Monday.
The 6'7" guard from Neptune Beach had a long, winding road in getting to Florida State. In his freshman season at Tarleton State, Jones averaged 3.6 points per game and 1.4 rebounds. He transferred to Barton Community College (Kansas), where, in the NJCAA, he led Barton to a 34-3 record and a national championship victory.
In his junior season at St. Bonaventure, Jones averaged 10.8 points per game and started in 32 of 33 games for the Bonnies. He helped lead them to the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament as well as an appearance in the NIT.
At Florida State, Jones was a 2026 All-ACC Tournament Second Team selection. In the ACC tournament, he averaged 21.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds, while in the regular season, he was a constant fixture for the Seminoles. In 31 games started for FSU, Jones averaged 12.7 points per game.
The Knicks are currently playing in the conference semifinals against the Philadelphia 76ers, where they currently lead the series 1-0 after a dominant 137-98 win.
