Kyle Hamilton is optimistic about the return of defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver to the Ravens in 2026, citing past successes under Weaver as a reason for hope. He believes Weaver's familiarity and energy will help stabilize the team's defense during a transition year.
Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton expressed excitement about the return of defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver in 2026, pointing to Baltimore's past success under Weaver as a reason for optimism entering the new season.
“Yes, it’s a little bit of the same thing with ‘Mick’ [pass game coordinator/secondary coach Mike Mickens] in having familiarity from guys that have been in the room. Obviously, it’s been a couple years since he’s been here, but last time he was here, we were a really good defense. Hopefully that’s synonymous with this year, and he was the missing piece, but I think having somebody like that – also a Notre Dame guy – who’s in the room and very energetic and kind of understands to a ‘T’ the front seven and has [head coach] Jesse [Minter] in the back to kind of tie everything together and all those other guys that’ll contribute. I think it kind of has like strongholds in the room, and to have a ‘DC’ like that who is determined [and] has played the game, he’s done a great job in the room the past few days, and I think everybody’s excited.”
Hamilton also noted his shared Notre Dame background with Weaver as a point of familiarity as the Ravens' new defensive staff continues installation work this offseason. With familiarity and proven production on his side, Weaver's return could provide the stability Baltimore's defense needs during a transition year. If early impressions hold, the combination of experience, energy, and continuity may help the Ravens quickly reestablish themselves as one of the NFL's top defensive units in 2026.
