The Batesville girlsā tennis team opened the regular season with a 4-1 against Union County.
At No. 1 singles, Batesvilleās Ava Walsman defeated Cassidee McCashland 6-3, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Batesvilleās Aurora Mertz lost to Kehlan Baker 3-6, 6-1, (10-7). Batesvilleās Addie Fledderman posted a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Abby Tipton.
Batesvilleās No. 1 doubles team of Grace Walter and Grace Gutzwiller gave up just two games in knocking off Chloe Crabtree and Hazel Henke 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Batesvilleās Liv Maddock and Maddie Haskamp shut out Camryn Stewart and Elly Frazier 6-0, 6-0.
Junior varsity winners for the Lady Bulldogs included Ellie Westerfeld and Addie Reding; Brynlie Oesterling and Ella Carpenter; Miki Gutzwiller and Lyle Struewing; Sophie West and Lilliana Adams; and Elizabeth Barry and Ishita Patel.
Batesville won the match 4-1, with notable victories in singles and doubles matches.
Ava Walsman at No. 1 singles and the doubles team of Grace Walter and Grace Gutzwiller were standout players in the match.
