The Texas Longhorns women's basketball team has added former Marquette guard Jada Bediako to their roster. Bediako, who averaged 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds last season, aims to contribute to Texas's pursuit of a national title.
With the women's college basketball offseason in full swing, the Texas Longhorns have been busy reshaping their roster. That continued on Friday when they secured a commitment from former Marquette guard Jada Bediako. As Bediako joins her third college team, she will look to help Texas win a national title.
During the 2025-2026 campaign, Bediako appeared in 26 games for Marquette, averaging 2.6 points. The Ontario native also averaged 2.2 rebounds and a career-high 0.4 assists per game. While her numbers may not jump off the page, Bediako set career highs in every category.
As Bediako begins to learn a new system, she is not in unfamiliar territory. She spent her first college season at Georgia Tech. After only appearing in nine games, the newest Longhorn transferred to Marquette to get more playing time. That worked out well as she appeared in 56 games over the last two seasons.
With Bediako officially in the mix, the Lady Longhorns' roster will look very different when they return to action. Their losses in the portal include Jordan Lee, Aaliyah Crump, Justice Carlton, and Aaliyah Moore. While they are not an easy trio to replace, the Longhorns have improved their roster with the addition of former Oklahoma guard Zya Vann. They will also welcome one of the highest-ranked recruiting classes to campus in a few months.
Although more changes could be in store, the Longhorns now have a veteran rebounder whom they can rely on next season. If she can continue to build on her success with Marquette, she will be a very valuable addition to a team with national title aspirations.
