Lady Vols defeat Alabama to tie SEC softball series

No. 8 Tennessee (39-8, 13-7 SEC) defeated No. 3 Alabama (44-5, 17-3 SEC), 2-0, Sunday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

With Sunday's victory the Lady Vols tied the SEC against Alabama. Tennessee will play for a series win on Monday. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. EDT. SEC Network will televise the series finale.

Tennessee pitcher Sage Mardjetko (11-1) recorded a complete game for Tennessee, pitching seven innings. She allowed one hit and three walks, while recording six strikeouts. Mardjetko totaled 95 pitches, including 60 strikes.

Her no-hitter ended with one out in the seventh inning after the Crimson Tide's Audrey Vandagriff hit a single.

Sunday's contest marked the first time during the 2026 season Alabama was shut out.

The game was scoreless in the fifth inning when Gabby Leach hit a solo home run, giving the Lady Vols a, 1-0, lead.

Tennessee extended its advantage to, 2-0, after Emma Clarke hit a solo home run. The Lady Vols recorded four hits in Game 2.

Leach went 1-for-3. She hit one home run, recording one RBI and scored one run. Clarke went 1-for-3. She hit one home run and recored one RBI.

Taelyn Holley went 1-for-4 and recorded two stolen bases, while Ella Dodge went 1-for-3.
