The initial rush in the reporting about Chelseaâs hunt for a new manager was all about Andoni Iraola.
That makes sense â the Bournemouth coach has his team playing exciting football, heâs young, heâs got Premier League experience and heâs out of contract. Chelsea fans arenât sure if itâs a good idea, but they mostly can see the appeal.
However there is another candidate who would be less popular who the Blues are also going to reach out to.
The Evening Standard are reporting that Marco Silva âis a candidateâ for the job and that Chelsea âwill explore his availability.â Silva is not as young as Iraola and doesnât play such exciting football. He is very experienced as a Premier League manager though.
Weâd imagine that Silva is near the bottom of the list, with the likes of Xabi Alonsi and Cesc Fabregas at the top. But once the biggest and best options have indicated theyâre not interested, we may get closed and closer to Silva as a real option.
Many Chelsea fans do not favor Marco Silva due to concerns about his previous managerial performances and fit with the club's ambitions.
