
LeBron James said players have to put their ego and pride aside. He explained that doing so helps them stay adaptable and contribute in different ways on the floor.
LeBron James described himself as a “Swiss Army knife” as a basketball player. He said he never boxed himself into being only a scorer and has always tried to make an impact in multiple ways.
LeBron James: “It literally, it’s — I’m just not, I guess, I’m not an idiot.” Steve Nash: “Headline: I’m not an idiot.” LeBron James: “I’m not an idiot.” Steve Nash: “LeBron James.” LeBron James: “I’m not an idiot. I’m not an idiot. I mean —” Steve Nash: “But that’s — I mean that’s easy to say. It’s not always easy to do.” LeBron James: “You have to put your ego to the side. Put your ego to the side. Put your pride to the side. But you also have to have the ability. I have the adaptability to be able to do other things on the floor too and still make an impact.” Steve Nash: “That’s true.” LeBron James: “So that helps.” Steve Nash: “You still have plenty of triple-doubles or games where you’re like, took 14 shots, 24, 10, 9.” LeBron James: “It helps to — I don’t like pat myself on the back or whatever the case may be — but it helps for me to be a Swiss Army knife when it comes to just being a basketball player. Like I, I, I never like, like gave myself a moment where I was like, ‘You’re going to be a scorer.’”
