Leeds United defeated managerless Burnley, moving closer to securing their Premier League status for next season. Burnley struggled throughout the match, showing little fight after their relegation.
Leeds cruise past managerless Burnley
Leeds United had too much for managerless Burnley and edged closer to confirming their place in the Premier League next season.
Daniel Farke's team went into this knowing that a win against Burnley would keep them well clear of the scrap for the final relegation spot. And the Clarets very much-played like a managerless team that had already been relegated with little to play for.
The home side started brightly, taking the lead inside the first eight minutes. Jaka Bijol found Anton Stach who had time and space to take a sight of goal and fire a fiercely-accurate low drive that bounced in off the inside of Martin Dúbravka's left hand post.
It was another excellent long-range goal from the German but the passive Burnley defending and the slow reaction from Dúbravka certainly helped.
Burnley did little in an attempt to get back into the game before the break and looked low in confidence whenever they did get hold of the ball.
The Whites started the second half quickly once again making 2-0 in the 52nd minute after some fine football. Dominic Calvert-Lewin robbed the ball in midfield before holding up play and back-heeling the ball while playing in Jayden Bogle to cross over for Noah Okafor to convert.
The final score of the match was Leeds United 1, Burnley 0.
This win puts Leeds United in a strong position to confirm their place in the Premier League for the next season.

The third goal wasn't quite so pretty though. Ao Tanaka's shot was dipping just in front of Dúbravka meaning that the Slovakian could only parry it with Calvert-Lewin on hand to finish the job.
Leeds seemed to coast from that point on even after the warning sign when Lucas Pires had the ball into the net only to be found offside.
Shortly after that, Burnley pulled one back when Jaidon Anthony put in a neat throughball for Loum Tchaouna to latch on to and finish.
However, Leeds were able to regain control of the game after that lapse in concentration and see out a win that has them up to 14th in the table, one point ahead of Newcastle United.
