Leeds United Considering A £35m Bid To Sign This Brazilian Player: Will He Fix The Midfield Problem?
Leeds United are considering a £35m bid to sign Wolves midfielder André this summer, as Daniel Farke looks to strengthen his squad for a more ambitious Premier League campaign. Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte first broke the story, with Sport Witness later relaying the report to English audiences.
Wolves are working on a valuation of £26m to £35m, and a Leeds offer at the top of that range would match what the Midlands club want. André, now a 13-cap Brazil international with 64 Premier League appearances, will draw plenty of interest this summer. Juventus also made a push for André earlier this week, making Leeds United the latest club to enter a race that will only get more crowded.
Wolves bought André from Fluminense in 2024 for around £21m, and his former club hold a 10% sell-on clause, meaning they stand to earn roughly £3.5m from a £35m domestic sale. At Wolves, André formed a midfield partnership with João Gomes that was far too good for a team at the bottom of the table, and he has quietly become one of the most reliable ball-winners in the Premier League.

In addition to Leeds United, Juventus is also pursuing André, with other clubs likely to join the race.
André has made 64 appearances in the Premier League.

André sits deep, collects the ball constantly, and stays available at all times, acting as a reliable anchor rather than a creative force. That profile suits Leeds United in one way, as Farke prefers a possession-based style, and a player who rarely loses the ball gives him a solid platform. Ethan Ampadu already offers similar defensive cover, so the question is whether two holding midfielders can work together in a team trying to attack. The honest answer is they can sometimes, but not always.
André has created just one big chance this season and registered zero assists; hence, creativity is not what he offers. That is a factual reality of his game. He also picked up 10 yellow cards this season, a discipline concern that is often ignored in transfer talk.
Paying £35m for a midfielder who does not contribute in the final third is a gamble, especially with Manchester United also tracking him as Casemiro nears an exit. Leeds United would face serious competition, and André may prefer a club with European football. The 49ers group at Elland Road have shown ambition, but that has not yet closed the gap. André is a fine player, just not the transformative one this fee suggests.
Leeds United face a summer that will dictate their top-flight future, and every signing this window will be crucial.
