“While I feel great physically and sharp mentally, I heard from my doctors that the latest tests showed some abnormalities,” Vitale said.
“They are recommending some additional testing to determine next steps. I’m hoping for the best, and we will see what the roadmap looks like after an upcoming biopsy. As always, I plan to remain as active as ever and fight as hard as can be.”
He provided another update on Saturday.
“Those asking results of my biopsy I have not heard .I would think most likely I will hear on Monday or Tuesday – yes no doubt that it creates all kind of nervousness- CANCER IS A MONSTER ! It is y I am devoted to helping youngsters who have to battle to beat that vicious disease,” Vitale wrote on X.

Vitale then asked fans to donate to cancer research through The V Foundation. During a time when his greatest fears and battles have become real, Vitale showed why he is one of a kind.
Vitale began his broadcasting career with ESPN in 1979 after spending the previous 16 years coaching basketball. He coached at every level, from high school to the NBA.
Vitale became one of the faces of basketball through his broadcasting career. His unique analysis quickly cemented him as one of the greatest icons in sports broadcasting.
