The visitors opened the scoring in the first half, when Liam Millar capitalised on a goalkeeping error to find the bottom corner. A string of three corners followed shortly after for the hosts, but Jamaal Lascelles’ header flew wide of the post.
The opening goal of the night came from Millar, who, following a fatal misplaced pass from Asmir Begovic, beautifully picked out the bottom corner from inside the penalty area, giving Hull the lead just before the 20-minute mark. Jordan James went in search of an instant equaliser for Leicester, but his long-range effort went high and wide of the goal.
Luke Thomas was shown the first yellow card of the night after 34 minutes, following a bad challenge on Mohamed Belloumi. Just moments later, Ryan Giles was booked for a foul on .

Daka looked to pull Leicester level before the break, but his strike went wide of Ivor Pandur’s right post. The Tigers came close to doubling their lead on the stroke of half-time when Matt Crooks was denied by a great save from Begovic.
The visitors made one change at the break, which saw Lewis Koumas replace Belloumi on the right flank. Koumas was the centre of attention just a few minutes after coming on when he brought down Fatawu inside the area, and gifted Leicester a penalty, which was calmly converted by James.
Just two minutes later, Leicester took the lead through Thomas, who picked out the corner from inside the penalty area. Harry Winks, who’s been the topic of much controversy this week, was introduced to proceedings on the hour mark, replacing James.
Lascelles won Leicester a free-kick inside their own half, but a rapid break from Hull saw McBurnie draw the score level at 2-2 when he fired past Begovic. Minutes later, Oliver Skipp was added to the referee’s notebook following a foul on Crooks.
Changes followed for both sides, with Hull introducing Yu Hirakawa and Regan Slater in favour of John Lundstram and Millar, whilst Leicester replaced Bobby Reid and Skipp with Stephy Mavididi and Aaron Ramsey.
Both Ramsey and Mukasa came close to giving their side the lead in the 80th minute, but Pandur was equal to their efforts before Hull’s penultimate substitution saw Kyle Joseph replace Joe Gelhardt for the remainder of the match.
Winks and Pandur both received yellow cards late in the night, after Pandur flew off his line and fouled Daka. Sergej Jakirovic turned to his bench one last time in the 90th minute and elected for Paddy McNair to take the place of Ryan Giles for the seven minutes of injury time.
Leicester’s final roll of the dice to save their season saw Mukasa and Ricardo Pereira replaced by Hamza Choudhury and Jordan Ayew. However, it didn’t pay off, and the Premier League champions of a decade ago were condemned to League One football next season.
