Should Devin Booker try to leave the Suns for greener pastures?
Is it time for Devin Booker to leave the Suns for a better opportunity?
Jac Caglianone, the Kansas City Royals' sixth overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft, has struggled to find consistent playing time despite his talent. After a disappointing 2025 season, he has only started 17 of 28 games this year, raising concerns about the team's management of his potential.
Caglianone has only started 17 out of 28 games due to a combination of platoon strategies and his previous struggles in the 2025 season.
In 2025, Caglianone hit .337 with 20 home runs across 304 plate appearances in Double-A and Triple-A.
Caglianone has performed better against left-handed pitchers, posting a .653 OPS in the majors and an .841 OPS in the minors against them.
Limited playing time may hinder Caglianone's development and confidence, potentially affecting his long-term performance and All-Star potential.

âGuys are allowed to have off years,â [Ned Yost] said. âIt doesnât mean that theyâre going to be terrible for the rest of their career.â Yost added, âWeâre hoping that he bounces back this year, and you donât start jacking with them mentally. Itâs hard for people to understand that, fans to understand it. But that plays a big part in it, them having confidence in knowing that the manager has confidence in them in those situations.â Notably, under Yost, both Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas completed 88% of possible games that season. And notably for Caglianone, heâs been legitimately good this yearâboth at the plate and on the field. Heâs in the top 2% of average exit velo and max exit velo. Who else is going to eclipse that talent on this roster? Let him play everyday. Let him play against lefties. Let him hit tanks to tie it up with two outs in the ninth inning. If the Royals make the playoffs, it will be in part because of Caglianone and not in spite of him. They should use him as such.
