'Let's see': Virgil van Dijk offers massive hope after Liverpool heartbreak

Virgil van Dijk has offered real hope to Liverpool fans after some heartbreak this week.

Liverpool suffered some genuine heartbreak at the weekend as Mo Salah went off with a hamstring problem. There are only a few games left, of course, and the injury may rule Salah out for the rest of the season.

That would mean the legendary no.11 has played his final match for Liverpool. Not the way anyone wanted things to end.

Reports from Egypt suggest Salah will be gone for around four weeks. That probably rules him out, though it's a short enough span that he might be able to return for the final match.

Whether Salah risks that, however, is unclear as he will want to appear at the World Cup this summer. It's an incredibly difficult decision, then, and not one he'll take lightly.

Captain Virgil van Dijk has offered a bit of hope, though. The Dutchman makes it clear that he doesn't know what to expect from Salah - but he isn't giving up.

“He will get the send-off regardless,” he said. “I don’t think that is the thing at this point, we shouldn’t think too far ahead. Knowing Mo he is a quick healer with the right people around us and let’s see.”

And he's right. Salah's injury record is phenomenal and he typically recovers much faster than most. Hopefully, he can show that one final time.
