The NFL Draft has concluded, and teams have now begun transitioning to offseason workouts. Soon, these draft picks will join free-agent acquisitions and tenured veterans in pursuit of a Super Bowl title.
As this portion of the season grows relatively quiet, former NFL players often generate headlines with notable sound bites. On Monday, former NFL running back Le’Veon Bell made a concerning accusation against a former head coach.
Bell joined The Justin Laboy Show and discussed his least favorite coach. To no one’s surprise, he named former New York Jets head coach Adam Gase.

Bell has taken plenty of shots at Gase over the years. However, during this podcast appearance, he revealed a particularly troubling allegation.
After recounting a flawed game plan Gase used against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019, Bell initially hesitated to share more about the former Jets coach. Ultimately, he dropped a bombshell.
When asked what Gase was doing in his office, Bell stated, “That white girl,” before gesturing the act of snorting a substance. “White girl,” of course, is slang for cocaine.
“I walk in the office and see my coach … we got practice in 28 minutes!” Bell said, describing the moment he allegedly saw Gase. “This is what you are doing in here?”

Bell also suggested this behavior may explain why Gase remained out of the league after 2020. The Los Angeles Chargers recently hired Gase as an offensive assistant.

However, from 2021 until this year, Gase did not work with any NFL team. Could this be the reason, as Bell suggests?
Bell signed with the Jets as a free agent in 2019 after holding out during the 2018 season while seeking a new deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His tenure with the Jets proved underwhelming, and he exited the league a few seasons later.
Bell’s accusations are serious and could help explain why Gase was not brought into an NFL organization until recently. Still, it is fair to question whether the claims are entirely factual, given Bell’s well-documented disdain for his former head coach.
Could this explain why Gase remained absent from the NFL for nearly a decade?
