After a long international break, week 17 â the last week in Liga MX Femenil season, is upon us and itâs going to be a big one.
In the offseason, it was announced that this was going to be MazatlĂĄnâs last season. The team is not folding but the franchise was sold and will be relocated under the name âAtlante.â
Although teams like this one have been set for failure right from the beginning, and this season was no exception. The players have been doing the impossible to get favorable results and be picked up by Atlante or another club.
Theyâre finishing the tournament in the 11th position, an exceptional feat with many seasons finishing near the bottom.
Their final game is going to be an emotional one. Besides, MazatlĂĄnâs Cañoneras are facing Tijuana, a team that needs the three points to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Week 17 will kick off this Friday and we have some big games on the horizon: el Clåsico Regio between Rayadas de Monterrey and Tigres, and Club América vs Pachuca.
For Monterrey and América, this match is a must-win since both are clashing at the top of the table. Currently, Rayadas sits first with 40 points, while the Eagles have 39 points.
Leaving the table aside, all these teams are playing for bragging rights, with rivalries in full swing. Moreover, the result of these games will determine their seeds and confidence ahead of the playoffs. Because we all know the importance of finishing the season with a good result and these teams will want to go into the playoffs with a positive mind.
Monterreyâs Rayadas, Club AmĂ©rica, Pachucaâs Tuzas, Tigres, Guadalajaraâs Chivas, Tolucaâs Diablas and Cruz Azul have already punched their tickets for the playoffs.
Just one ticket remains, and itâs going to go to either JuĂĄrezâs Bravas or Tijuanaâs Xolas. Who has the upper hand? JuĂĄrez. Theyâre currently 8th in the table with 26 points and will face Atlas. If they win, theyâre in.

On the other hand, we have Tijuana, a team thatâs one point shy from Bravas and will play MazatlĂĄn. Besides a must-win against Las Cañoneras, theyâll have to wait for JuĂĄrez to find out their fate.
Although striker EugĂ©nie Le Sommer is leading the Golden Boot race, the last few games Diablas played havenât been very convincing.
The loss against Cruz Azul resonated heavily after beating them 4-0. What else? Ending in a 3-3 draw against LeĂłn, a team that is currently 13th in the table. Also worrisome was the result against MazatlĂĄn, which finished with a close 3-2 victory.
While Le Sommer is outscoring the other teams, Toluca has the responsibility to be smart in defense, something they havenât been able to do lately and thatâs going to be crucial if they want to make a playoff run.
It took many seasons, but Rayadas is back amongst the top teams again. Of course, they were always counted among the top five, but in the passing years, they lost their soccer and identity, especially after Rebeca Bernal left.
However, coach Amandine Miquel was what this team needed, and they still have yet to lose this year. This historical run can end on a high note if they can defeat Tigres.
This team is not flashy; they donât have a clear marquee player but it is a humble, hard-working one, and that is paying off.
Clausura 2026âs ClĂĄsico Regio will see the current champions, Tigres, against the tournament leaders, Rayadas.
Monterrey will be playing at home, and its defense is a tough one. They have only allowed five goals and itâs the team with the best defense. Theyâre not the team with the most goals scored but theyâre in the top three.
On the other hand, Tigres is the reigning champion and although they havenât had a bad season, it wasnât as good as before. Theyâre currently fourth and have 13 goals against and 38 in favor, with 16 of those (almost 50%) scored by Diana Ordoñez.
There are three clear nominees for the Golden Boot this year and for the first time in a long time, it seems like Tuzasâ Charlyn Corral wonât win it. Unless she scores at least a hat-trick against AmĂ©rica.
Whoâs leading this season?
French striker EugĂ©nie Le Sommer is the top goalscorer of the competition with 17 tallies. Following closely with 16 goals is Tigresâ striker Diana Ordóñez.
The aforementioned Corral is third with 13 goals. Cruz Azulâs Uchenna Kanu is also worth mentioning. The former Tigres and Racing Louisville striker is currently 4th with in this category.
