Liverpool enter 'advanced talks' for £18m star who Real Madrid want
Even though Ryan Gravenberch may have just extended his Liverpool contract, there's still room for improvement in defensive midfield.
The Dutchman has been transformed into a number six by Slot and, even though he's been a fairly solid addition to Liverpool's starting XI, it's clear that the Reds could do with some extra help in that area.
Several names have been mentioned as potential targets for Liverpool to try and sign but now, it's clear who they actually want in that role.
Because, as per an update from Spanish outlet MARCA, the Reds are now in 'advanced talks' with Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton.
"[Liverpool] are in advanced talks for young Adam Wharton , preempting Real Madrid's earlier interest," they wrote.
Wharton may have only cost Crystal Palace £18 million back in 2024 but he'd certainly cost the Reds a lot more than that to prise him away from Selhurst Park.
Now that and have left, Wharton is their best player by a country mile.

He's been called up to Thomas Tuchel's England squad on more than one occasion with the former Blackburn Rovers ace likely hoping to be included in England's 2026 World Cup squad.
The Englishman has played 46 games across all competitions for Oliver Glanser's men this term with the vast majority of his games coming as their number six.
Despite this, he's still managed to assist his teammates seven times and, as per Fotmob, he's even maintained a 78.8 per cent pass accuracy in the Premier League which, for a player who's on the ball as much as he is, is fairly impressive.
Obviously, with the number of changes Liverpool need to make in the summer, there's going to be some tough decisions for Slot and Richard Hughes to make but, if the opportunity to bring Wharton to Anfield arises, it's simply something that must be done.
