Liverpool have already signed their Andy Robertson replacement

Andy Robertson - who wasn’t offered a new contract - will be leaving summer in 2026 when his current deal expires.

Robbo has been at Anfield since 2017 - winning all there is to win in the game following his £8m move from Hull City.

The 32-year-old is now widely expected to join Tottenham on a free transfer in summer - with the left-back seeking to tidy up his future before the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Focus will then turn to which player will come into the Premier League champions’ squad to replace the Scotland captain. Although an all-time great Liverpool defender Robertson has faded from the first-team picture since Milos Kerkez was brought to the club.

Kerkez, 22, is expected to lock down the left-back position for the long-term having arrived on a £40m deal from Bournemouth.

It means Liverpool will not require a starting left-back - instead it will be up to a new arrival to provide cover and competition for the Hungarian.

And according to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira Kostas Tsimikas will be arriving back on Merseyside this summer with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes set to take a decision on his future.

Tsimikas, 29, moved on loan to Roma for the 2025/26 season but the Serie A side have got no intention of completing a permanent move for the Greece international.

“AS Roma are not satisfied with Kōstas Tsimikas’ performances,” he writes on X.

“So the left back will leave Roma at the end of the season to return to Liverpool, which have to decide to keep or to sell him again.”

With one year left on his contract Tsimikas is going to find himself at a big career crossroads but could yet take up the position he had when Robbo was reigning supreme.

He provided cover and competition for Robertson between 2020 when he arrived originally and last summer when he departed on loan.

Tsimikas could do the same again - allowing Hughes and Slot to save money in the market that could have otherwise been spent on a left-back.

Others further down the pecking order can also provide back-up to first-choice Kerkez - including Owen Beck, Luke Chambers and Clae Ewing.
