Liverpool have shown interest in Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso as a potential replacement for Andy Robertson, who is set to leave the club. The Reds face competition from several European clubs for Cambiaso's signature.
Liverpool have enquired about Andrea Cambiaso
Liverpool are among the clubs monitoring Juventusā Andrea Cambiaso, with the English club poised to bring a new left-back to Anfield this summer, per Mirko Di Natale. The Reds are preparing to lose long-time servant Andy Robertson, who will leave at the end of the season, and have enquired about Cambiasoās situation. Liverpool will presumably be eyeing Cambiaso as a replacement for Robertson. He will compete with Milos Kerkez for the starting berth. The 26-year-old has been outstanding this term, bagging three goals and creating 10 big chances in 33 Serie A outings. He also plays 1.6 key passes per game. Defensively, there are still flaws in his game, but he is a terrific weapon to have at the back. His experience in midfield and playing on either flank could be crucial for Arne Slot. However, Liverpool will have to move swiftly to secure his signature, with several other European clubs swooning over him. Inter Milan, Napoli, Manchester City (they pushed hard to sign him last summer to no avail), and are interested in his services. There is no doubt that Cambiaso would raise Liverpoolās technical level, but the move could create an awkward balancing act for Slot. Kerkez is not at Liverpool to sit on the bench. After developing into one of the Premier Leagueās most dynamic full-backs, the Hungarian will expect regular starts and a clear pathway to becoming the first-choice left-back. Meanwhile, Cambiaso is already established at the top level and entering his prime years. A player of his calibre will also expect consistent minutes if he joins the Merseyside outfit. That leaves Liverpool facing the risk of spending heavily on two left-backs who both believe they should be starting every week. The Reds may be better served targeting a more experienced veteran entering the latter stages of his career who can mentor Kerkez while still offering dependable cover. Another option is to sign a younger developmental talent who is willing to compete patiently. Bringing in another ready-made starter alongside Kerkez could create unnecessary tension and complicate Liverpoolās long-term planning on the left flank.
