Liverpool make another enquiry for Brazilian wonderkid

Liverpool's attack has been under plenty of scrutiny this season.

Hugo Ekitike has been one of the Reds' only attackers in decent form with the Frenchman often single-handedly winning his club games.

This is obviously far from ideal, especially since Arne Slot and Richard Hughes chose to spend a combined £241 million on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

And, now that Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, the rumour mill has started to turn with several options starting to emerge.

However, since they spent big last summer, another huge spending spree doesn't feel all that likely so every transfer will count.

This is exactly why it's hardly surprising to see the Reds making yet another enquiry for one of their most talked-about targets.

Earlier in the season, rumours about Salah exiting Anfield in the January window were rife.

The Egyptian King had a bit of a falling out with Slot which led to him being left on the bench for three games in a row.

And, even though Salah didn't leave in January, the relationship was already tarnished which led many to believe that the 2025-26 season could be his last for Liverpool.

Now that has been confirmed, more transfer links are beginning to emerge but, the fact that an old rumour has just popped back up proves that there could be some truth behind it.

Allan Elias is the player in question.

The 22-year-old is one of Palmeiras' most sought-after players thanks to his impressive performances this season.

And, although a move for the attacker never came to fruition earlier in the campaign, a fresh update from ESPN journalist Andre Hernan has claimed that Liverpool's chase for him is active once again.

"It is not new that Liverpool want Allan," he said via ESPN Brazil's YouTube channel.

"The market is starting to open and there are already enquiries and approaches regarding the player.

"Palmeiras will have to be very strong, because clubs will come hard for him. He is a player very desired by the European market."

Liverpool must figure out their transfer priorities soon

Although almost every area of Liverpool's first-team squad could do with an upgrade or two, the Reds must figure out what their priorities are before the transfer window opens.

Last summer, they focused on improving their attack and, even though most fans thought that they'd be unstoppably, that's been far from the case.

Replacing Salah is a necessity and, if Slot and Hughes don't get it right, they could find themselves in a world of pain next term.

Their midfield could also do with a new face or two with another defensive-midfielder potentially on the cards.

There's still a lot for the L4 outfit to figure out before the start of the 2026-27 season but, now that Slot is almost guaranteed to stay, it feels like they can figure out their priorities and ensure that they make the best moves possible.

If they don't manage to do this, they could end up much worse off than they currently find themselves which would be far from ideal, especially since they want to add more trophies to their cabinet next term.
