Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen as they prepare for a significant attacking overhaul this summer. The potential departure of Mohamed Salah has intensified their focus on forward recruitment.
Liverpool urged to consider move for 21-G/A Premier League star
On Media Matters for Anfield Index, Dave Davis and Lewis Steele discussed Liverpoolâs reported interest in West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen as Arne Slot prepares for a major attacking rebuild this summer.
With Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, recruitment in forward areas has become one of the clubâs biggest priorities. Alongside links to younger options such as Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande, Bowenâs name has also entered the conversation.
The timing is significant because West Ham head into the final two games of the season sitting in the relegation zone, potentially changing the financial landscape around any future transfer discussions.
Steele admitted he does ânot mind the ideaâ of Liverpool moving for Bowen, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Liverpoolâs attack beyond Salah.
He pointed towards Bowenâs versatility and reliability in front of goal as key strengths, with 21 direct goal involvements so far this season.
âHe scores goals, he can play down the middle, he can play off the right, he can play on the left,â Steele said.
For a Liverpool side that Steele believes lacks enough players capable of consistently contributing goals, those qualities stand out.
âLiverpool donât have enough players in their squad that do that right now,â he explained.
Liverpool is considering a move for Jarrod Bowen due to the impending departure of Mohamed Salah and the need for a major attacking rebuild.
Jarrod Bowen has recorded 21 goals and assists in the Premier League, showcasing his effectiveness as a forward.
In addition to Jarrod Bowen, Liverpool is linked with younger talents like Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande for forward positions.

One of the key themes of the discussion was how West Hamâs league position may affect Bowenâs future.
Steele acknowledged concerns over the England forwardâs age profile, saying: âHeâs too old. Do you want to be spending ÂŁ50 million or ÂŁ60 million on a player like that?â
However, he quickly added another possibility. âIf heâs getting relegated, which as it stands he is, he might be available half price.â
That scenario could dramatically increase Liverpoolâs interest, especially during a summer where the club may need to strengthen several positions under Slot.
Steele suggested that, at a reduced fee, Bowen could become âa great signing for two or three years.â

Beyond goals and flexibility, Steele also highlighted Bowenâs mentality as a reason Liverpool may view him favourably.
âHe seems a good lad,â Steele said, before adding that Bowen appears âthe sort that would be accountable and he would fight.â
That line felt particularly relevant given the wider criticism Steele directed towards Liverpoolâs mentality and effort levels throughout the podcast.
As Liverpool prepare for life after Salah, Jarrod Bowenâs experience, work ethic and versatility could make him an increasingly serious option, especially if West Hamâs relegation battle ends badly over the final weeks of the season.
