Danville baseball team swept Urbana in a doubleheader, winning 4-0 and 7-6. Key players included Alex McQuown, Jaiven Wilson, and Blake Warfield.
DANVILLE β After rain ruined the start of the week, the Danville baseball team returned to action on Wednesday against Urbana at Danville Stadium.
In the first game, Alex McQuown gave up only four hits as the Vikings shut out the Tigers 4-0. Marvin Davis and Shaw Black each had an RBI, while Jaiven Wilson had two hits.
The second game of the doubleheader was tied at 6-6 in the seventh before Blake Warfield singled to bring in the winning run in a 7-6 victory.
Wilson had two hits and two RBIs, while Grady DeVors had three hits and Davis, Brody Boyd and Warfield each had an RBI. Boyd goit the win in relief while DeVors had seven strikeouts as the starter.
The Vikings are 6-13 and will play Peoria Notre Dame on Friday.
Westville 7, Milford 6
WESTVILLE β Christian Giles drove in the winning run in the ninth as the Tigers beat the Bearcats.
Matthew Darling had three hits with a home run and four RBIs for Westville, while Ben Johnson had three hits and an RBI, Giles had two hits and an RBI and Kiptyn Appl had one RBI.
The Tigers are 12-11 and will travel to Salt Fork on Friday.
Salt Fork 12, Cissna Park 2
CATLIN β The Storm had nine hits as they made quick work of the Timberwolves in five innings.
Zayden Bromley had three RBIs for Salt Fork, while Braxton Clem and Jacob Downing each had two RBIs, Brayden Norton, Pedro Rangel V and Bodie Dahlenburg each had one RBI and Eli Wear had three hits.
Clem had nine strikeouts and only gave up four hits for the Storm, who are 9-6.
Geo-RF 12, Blue Ridge 3
FARMER CITY β The Buffaloes had 12 hits as they were able to win on the road against Blue Ridge.
Ryley Heck had two hits and three RBIs for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, while Peyton Miles had two hits with a home run and two RBIs, Dylan Lucas had three hits and an RBI and Landon Heck had two hits with a home run and an RBI.
Iroquois West 5, BHRA 2
BISMARCK β The Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin baseball team tried to defend home field, but five errors were the key in a 5-2 loss to Iroquois West on Tuesday.
Drew Dubois had two RBIs for the Blue Devils, while Dayton Dubois had two hits and Liam Parish had five strikeouts in six innings.
Oakwood 7, North Vermillion 1
CAYUGA, Ind. β The Oakwood baseball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and went on to beat North Vermillion 7-1 on Tuesday.
Cam Harris had 11 strikeouts on the mound for the Comets, while Xander Wilson had three hits and an RBI and Weston Frazier, Carsen Dudley and Grady Johnson each had an RBI.
Emmit Klugow and Randall Jeffers each had two hits for North Vermillion, who are 2-9 and will host Dugger Union today.
Covington 4, Fountain Central 2
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. β The Covington baseball team scored two runs in the eighth inning to get a 4-2 win over Fountain Central on Tuesday.
Danville won the first game 4-0 and the second game 7-6.
Alex McQuown, Jaiven Wilson, and Blake Warfield were standout players in the doubleheader.
Danville's baseball team has a current record of 6-13.
Danville baseball will play against Peoria Notre Dame on Friday.

POTOMAC β The Armstrong-Potomac softball team fell behind early and could not fully come back in a 9-5 loss to St. Thomas More on Tuesday.
Ashlyn Ackerman had two hits and two RBIs for the Trojans, while Chesney Franzen had two RBIs, Kaylyn Hayes had two hits and an RBI and Lyndee Williamson had two hits.
The Trojans drop to 7-15 and will travel to Iroquois West on Friday.

COVINGTON, Ind. β The Covington softball team scored eight runs in the fourth and would go on to beat Fountain Central 12-2 on Tuesday.
Alexus Peaslee had two hits and three RBIs for the Trojans, while Caydence Peaslee had a home run and three RBIs, Ashlyn Alexander had three hits and one RBI, Lauren Hardy had two hits and an RBI and Kynlynn Lowry and Jayleigh LaGue each had one RBI.
Alexus Peaslee had six strikeouts to get the win for Covington, who is 10-5.
Patience Bixler and Kailey Daughtery each had one RBI for Fountain Central, while Kynleigh Elkins and Mallory Massey each had two hits.
Both teams will face each other again on Thursday.

Covington wins triangular
COVINGTON, Ind. β The Covington boys golf team edged out South Vermillion and Attica on Tuesday in a a meet at Rivercrest Golf Course.
Andrew Wright won medalist honors for the Trojans with a 38, while Danny Smith shot a 42, Luke Holycross and Cole Witsman each had a 43 and Clyde Keller shot a 51.
The Trojans will host Fountain Central on May 4.
PREP GIRLS TENNIS
Fountain Central 5, Seeger 0
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. β The Fountain Central girls tennis team made quick work of Seeger with a 5-0 win on Tuesday.
In singles, Fountain Central's Elise Webb beat Katie McDonald 6-2, 6-2, Laney Hoagland beat Kersten Forrestal 6-4, 7-6 (2) and Esme Muniz beat Isabelle Hubner 6-3, 6-1. In doubles, the team of Savannah Bowers and Lilly Peterson beat Kelsey Johnson and Alivia Bell 6-1, 6-2 while Rya Jackson and Lydia Perkins beat Lizette Velazquez-Cortez and Isabelle Bradbury 6-3, 6-3.
The Mustangs also beat Southmont 5-0 on Wednesday as Webb, Hoagland and Muniz won in singles and Bowers and Peterson and Jackson and Jayden Larkin won in doubles.

Local teams compete in Invite
WESTVILLE β Westville hosted Oakwood, North Vermillion, Schlarman Academy and North Vermillion along with five other teams on Wednesday at the Tiger Invitational.
In the boys meet, Oakwood was second to Paris as the 800 team of Trevor McCall, Connor Taflinger, Kyler Johnson and Nathan Young won in 1:39.18. Cale Thomas was second in the 100 (11.88) and McCall was second in the 100 hurdles (16.91) and thrid in teh 300 hurdles (43.30). Young was second in the high jump (1.88) while Johnson was second in the shot put (13.25) and third in the discus (38.70m).
Westville was fifth with Easton Bolin winning the long jump (6.82,), Lincoln Cravens taking second in the 200 (24.44) and Brayden Neukirch taking third in the 800 (2:13). Schlarman was sixth with Ian Fitzgerald winning pole vault (2.59m) and Marquan Pinkston taking second in the 400 (56.97) and North Vermillion was seventh with Andre Buchhaas taking second in discus (39.52m).
North Vermillion was second to Paris in the girls meet with Breanna Tryon winning the 400 (1:05) and Riley Smith taking second in the 800 (2:35) and 100 hurdles (18:04). Oakwood was fourth with Taylor Wells winning the 800 (2:27) and 1,600 (5:35) and teamed with Evie Johnson, Olivia Cravens and Emily Lancaster to win the 1,600 relay (4:35).
Schlarman was sixth with Shalaya Briggs taking second in the triple jump (9.89m) and the 300 hurdles (54.29) and Westville was seventh with Kaitlyn Sapp taking second in the pole vault (2.29m) and Lainey Wichtowski taking third in the shot put (8.88m) and discus (27.72m).
PREP GIRLS TRACK
Danville third at Urbana
URBANA β The Danville girls track team ended up third in a quadrangular meet with his Urbana, Urbana and Mattoon on Tuesday.
Jamia Esther won the 100 (12.02 seconds) and 400 (1:01.75) for the Lady Vikings, while Jada Bell won the discus (32.88m).
Samantha Brown was second in the 100 (12.80), Jontaya Glover was second in the shot put (9.62m) and fourth in the discus (27.64m), Yariah Shaw was third in the 400 (1:03.08), Jebren Gray was third in the 100 hurdles (20.30) and fourth in the 300 (58.51), Jazlynn Whorrall was fourth in the 1,600 (6:18.92) and Nadia Gamble was third in the discus (28.42m) and sixth in the shot put (8.27m).
The 400 relay team of Shardonne Hillsman, Gray, Londyne Stone and Neveah Forman) was third at 53.81.
COLLEGE GOLF
DACC fifth at Region
NORMAL β The Danville Area Community College men's golf team had to battle through 36 holes on Tuesday to finish the Region 24 Tournament at D.A. Weibring Golf Course.
The Jaguars took fifth as a team with a score of 939 in the three rounds, with Heartland Community College taking first at 869, Illinois Central College was second at 889 and Vincennes University and Parkland College were third with a 916.
Nick Bruns led the Jaguars with a score of 230, which was good for a tie for 13th, while Josh Mathew was tied at 19th with a score of 235, Lyndon Kuryvial was tied for 21st (236) and Connor Campbell was 23rd (238).
