East Davidson girls soccer won 2-1 against Providence Grove in a Central Carolina 3A Conference match. Crystal Reyna-Garcia and Lucrezia Romero scored for East Davidson, while Sadie Nguyen made two saves in goal.
THOMASVILLE — East Davidson beat Providence Grove 2-1 in Central Carolina 3A Conference girls soccer Monday at Brown Middle.
Crystal Reyna-Garcia and Lucrezia Romero each scored for the Golden Eagles (9-8 overall, 2-6 conference). Sara Grey and Genesis Argueta each had an assist. Sadie Nguyen made two saves in goal.
WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, CALVARY DAY
HIGH POINT — Wesleyan Christian outlasted Calvary Day 1-1 (5-4 in PKs) in PTAC girls soccer Monday at Wesleyan’s Sanford Field.
Ava Peele scored off an assist by Cait Borden in the fourth minute for the Trojans (10-6 overall, 7-1 conference), who led until the 75th minute — peppering the goal with scoring chances but unable to pull away.
Kyla Denton, Emma Rutledge, Ava Peele, Izzy Jordan and Lillian Johnson scored in penalty kicks for Wesleyan, which survived the fifth round with a shot off the post following a miss.
McKinlee Graver, who shared time in goal with Sara Kate Carr in regulation, made a diving save to her left in the sixth round to seal the win, which kept the Trojans in a tie with Forsyth Country Day atop the conference standings.
BISHOP McGUINNESS, GREENSBORO DAY
KERNERSVILLE — Bishop McGuinness tied Greensboro Day 2-2 in nonconference girls soccer Monday at Bishop.
Laney Heafner scored off an assist from Kristen Dixon Velez for the Villains (9-4-2). MacKenna Langdon and Heather Hamilton each made two saves in goal.
TRINITY, THOMASVILLE
THOMASVILLE — Trinity won 6-3 against Thomasville in Central Carolina 3A Conference girls soccer Monday at Thomasville. Trinity improved to 11-1-4 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference, while Thomasville moved to 3-14-1 and 0-8.
WHEATMORE, WEST DAVIDSON
TYRO — Wheatmore defeated West Davidson 2-0 in Central Carolina 3A Conference girls soccer Monday at West Davidson.
Tatum Wagner and Kayla Rosenbaum each scored for the Warriors (11-5 overall, 8-0 conference). Kinsley Davis made four saves in goal.
OAK GROVE, ATKINS
WINSTON-SALEM — Oak Grove shut out Atkins 7-0 in Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference girls soccer Monday at Atkins.
Katherine Lockamy scored three goals for the Grizzlies (13-3-2 overall, 6-1 conference). Victoria Lockamy had two goals and two assists, while Piper Aldridge and Trista Warren each had one goal. Warren and Annika Borgen each chipped in an assist.

SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, SMITH
HIGH POINT — Third-seeded Southwest Guilford rolled past sixth-seeded Smith 19-0 in six innings Monday at Southwest in the first round of the Metro 6A/7A Conference baseball tournament.
Camden Welch and Ryan Maness each had two hits and three RBIs for the Cowboys (15-9), who advanced to face second-seeded Ragsdale in the semifinals Tuesday. Kaden Morgan added a hit and three RBIs.
The final score was East Davidson 2, Providence Grove 1.
Crystal Reyna-Garcia and Lucrezia Romero each scored for East Davidson.
Wesleyan Christian drew 1-1 with Calvary Day and won 5-4 in penalty kicks.
East Davidson has a record of 9-8 overall, while Wesleyan Christian has a record of 10-6 overall.

THOMASVILLE — Fourth-seeded East Davidson defeated fifth-seeded Thomasville 16-2 in five innings Monday at East in the first round of the Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball tournament.
The Golden Eagles, who advanced to Tuesday’s semifinal at top-seeded Trinity, improved to 10-13 while the Bulldogs dipped to 6-17. The winners of Tuesday’s semifinals will meet Wednesday at Finch Field.
WHEATMORE, WEST DAVIDSON
TYRO — Sixth-seeded Wheatmore lost 11-10 against third-seeded West Davidson on Monday at West Davidson in the opening round of the Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball tournament.
Nate Oxendine had two hits and two RBIs for the Warriors (2-19). Greyson Atkinson and Hunter Goddard, who tripled, each had two hits. Christian Tuttle, Shannon McCauley and Gavin McPherson each had a hit and an RBI.
McPherson and Grayson Carter each had a strikeout in 2 2/3 innings pitched. Bentley Mills also pitched.

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, PROVIDENCE DAY
CHARLOTTE — Wesleyan Christian lost 5-3 against Providence Day in nonconference softball Monday at Providence Day.
Allison Cheek had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for the Trojans (6-12). Maris Morgan, Hope Gallagher and Carlyn McKinney each added a hit. Morgan earned the complete-game win in the circle, striking out five.
WHEATMORE, THOMASVILLE
TRINITY — Fourth-seeded Wheatmore beat fifth-seeded Thomasville 15-0 in three innings Monday at Wheatmore in the opening round of the Central Carolina 3A Conference softball tournament.
Kylie Hemric had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for the Warriors (9-10), who advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals at top-seeded West Davidson. Skylar Pittman also homered and drove in three.
Scarlett Cross added a double and two RBIs, while Makenna Lawrence, Adalyn Boles and Emma Gower, who tripled, each had a hit and an RBI. Boles earned the complete-game pitching win, striking out five while not allowing a hit or a walk.
The winners of Tuesday’s semifinals will meet Wednesday at West Davidson.

WESTCHESTER COUNTRY DAY, GREENSBORO DAY
HIGH POINT — Westchester Country Day fell 6-3 against Greensboro Day in PTAC boys tennis Monday at High Point Country Club’s Willow Creek courts.
Clark Clodfelter (6-0, 6-1) and Preston Kendrick (6-2, 6-2) won in singles for the Wildcats, who dipped to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Clodfelter and Kendrick also won 8-2 in doubles.
TRINITY, McMICHAEL
TRINITY — No. 14-seeded Trinity swept No. 19 McMichael 9-0 on Monday at Trinity in the opening round of the NCHSAA 3A East boys tennis playoffs.
The Bulldogs (3-8) will visit third-seeded Providence Grove in the second round Wednesday.
HIGH POINT CENTRAL, EAST LINCOLN
DENVER — No. 20-seeded High Point Central lost 6-1 against No. 13 East Lincoln on Monday at East Lincoln in the first round of the NCHSAA 5A West boys tennis playoffs.
Christopher Gomez-Martinez (6-0, 6-0) won for the Bison (2-9).
OAK GROVE, NORTH GASTON
MIDWAY — No. 12-seeded Oak Grove won 9-0 against No. 21 North Gaston on Monday at Oak Grove in the opening round of the NCHSAA 5A West boys tennis playoffs.
Chris Morris (6-0, 6-0), Max Fleming (6-0, 6-1), Eli Fulcher (6-0, 6-0), AJ Moreno (6-0, 6-0), Caden Reedy (6-0, 6-0) and Aaron Richardson (6-0, 6-0) won in singles. Morris/Fulcher (8-0), Fleming/Moreno (8-0) and Reedy/Richardson (8-0) won in doubles.
The Grizzlies (8-6) will visit fifth-seeded North Buncombe in the second round Wednesday.
SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, WEST CABARRUS
CONCORD — No. 17-seeded Southwest Guilford won 5-2 over No. 16 West Cabarrus on Monday at West Cabarrus in the first round of the NCHSAA 7A West boys tennis playoffs.
The Cowboys (7-8) will visit top-seeded Grimsley in the second round Wednesday.

PTC CHAMPIONSHIP
THOMASVILLE — Oak Grove won the Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference boys golf championship Monday at Winding Creek Golf Course.
The Grizzlies posted a team score of 12-under 276 — well ahead of second-place Mount Tabor (325) in the four-team field.
Lincoln Newton and Aidan Wilson tied for medalist, each with a 5-under 67.
Tyler Lambert (69), Brady Steelman (73) and Jayden Robertson (73) also added counting scores for the Oak Grove.
METRO CHAMPIONSHIP
JAMESTOWN — Southwest Guilford was third and Ragsdale was fourth in Monday’s Metro 6A/7A Conference boys golf championship at Jamestown Park.
Grimsley and Page tied with a team score of 296, followed by Southwest (338), Ragsdale (385) and Dudley (430).
Jaxon Preston (83), Aidan Gujrati (85), Ryan Lovett (85) and Nicholas Niebauer (85) posted counting scores for the Cowboys. Liam Grant (88), Levi Golinski (99), Landon Choate (99) and Corbin Souther (99) had counting scores for the Tigers.

LEXINGTON — East Davidson took second to highlight Monday’s Central Carolina 3A Conference boys golf championship at Sapona Golf, Tennis & Swim Club.
West Davidson won with a team score of 336, ahead of the Golden Eagles with a 344. Wheatmore (361) was fourth and Trinity (437) was fifth.
Silas Lohr was medalist with a 75 to lead the Golden Eagles. Riley Gooch (78), Micah Faircloth (82) and Gray Owenby (109) added counting scores.
Avery Ivey (89), Evan Gordon (89) Nathan Pope (91) and Max Antignano (92) had counting scores for Wheatmore. Timothy Butcher (94), Easton Butler (109), Joseph Trahan (116) and Jeremiah Cruz (118) had counting scores for Trinity.
