Insights from the Wisconsin Badgers' recent spring practices.

Ledford softball achieved a dominant doubleheader victory over TW Andrews, winning 15-0 and 18-0. Key players included Cassidy Murray, Alana Herrera, and Kaylee Atwood, who contributed significantly in both games.
WALLBURG – Ledford rolled to a pair of wins – 15-0 and 18-0 – against TW Andrews in PAC Seven 4A/5A softball Tuesday at Ledford.
Cassidy Murray had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs in the opener. Sierra Ducharme added a double and three RBIs, while Kaylee Atwood had a hit and two RBIs. Sadie Melino and Calleigh Swing each drove in a run.
Atwood earned the pitching win, striking out five.
Alana Herrera had four hits, including a double and a home run, and five RBIs in the finale. Murray had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Emma Tesh chipped in two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, while Nicola Simpson had two hits, including a home run, and an RBI.
Hailey Hoots got the pitching win, striking out five.
The Panthers improved to 10-7 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while the Lady Raiders dipped to 0-8 and 0-7.
HIGH POINT CENTRAL, CENTRAL DAVIDSON
HIGH POINT – High Point Central lost 13-0 against Central Davidson in PAC Seven 4A/5A softball Tuesday at Central. The Bison dipped to 5-9 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, PAGE
GREENSBORO – Southwest Guilford raced past Page 15-4 in Metro 6A/7A Conference softball Tuesday at Page.
Aniya Harris had homered twice, tripled and drove in four runs to lead the Cowgirls (10-6 overall, 9-1 conference). Stevee Kendrick also had three hits, including a double, and an RBI, while Alyson Webb had a hit and two RBIs.
Harris earned the complete-game pitching win, striking out 12.
WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, GRACE CHRISTIAN
SANFORD – Wesleyan Christian lost 4-0 against Grace Christian in nonconference softball Tuesday at Grace Christian.
Allison Cheek, Ella Joyce and Carlyn McKinney each had a hit for the Trojans (4-8). Maris Morgan took the pitching loss, striking out one in five innings.
EAST DAVIDSON, WHEATMORE
TRINITY – East Davidson won 9-1 against Wheatmore in Central Carolina 3A Conference softball Tuesday at Wheatmore.
Emery Hill had three hits, including a double, and an RBI for the Golden Eagles (8-4 overall, 6-1 conference). Kaycee Lewis also had three hits, while Kenzi Cribb, who tripled, and Sophie Hampton each had two hits and two RBIs.
Kyleigh Hedrick earned the complete-game pitching win, while Adalyn Boles took the loss, striking out four in five innings.
Boles had a hit and an RBI for the Warriors (7-7, 3-4), while Emma Gower tripled. Kyndal Kindley, Brooklyn Boles and Emma Carter each had a hit.
OAK GROVE, ATKINS
WINSTON-SALEM – Oak Grove won 13-0 in five innings Tuesday against Atkins in Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference softball at Atkins.
Ellie Potter tripled twice, doubled and drove in two runs for the Grizzlies (10-7 overall, 6-1 conference). Hollis Fitzgerald also had three hits, while Tidah Soom and Harper Sugg, who doubled and tripled, each had two hits and three RBIs.
Kate Bertschi earned the win in the circle, striking out five in three innings.
RAGSDALE, GRIMSLEY
JAMESTOWN – Ragsdale beat Grimsley 16-0 in three innings Tuesday in Metro 6A/7A Conference softball Tuesday at Ragsdale.
Genesis Edwards had two hits and four RBIs for the Tigers (15-0 overall, 9-0 conference). Alexis Gray added two hits and two RBIs, while Gracie Jet Cuthrell had a hit and three RBIs. Ellie Cuthrell and Claire Souther each drove in two runs.
Gracie Jet Cuthrell earned the complete-game win, striking out four while allowing no hits and three walks.
SOUTHERN GUILFORD, EASTERN GUILFORD
SUMNER – Southern Guilford won 19-4 in three innings against Eastern Guilford in TAAC Six 5A/6A softball Tuesday at Southern.
Rylee Price had three hits and three RBIs for the Storm (10-3 overall, 6-1 conference). Chloe Lyons also had three hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBIs, while Madison Smith, who doubled, had two hits and two RBIs and Summer Evans had two hits and two RBIs.
Madison Goins got the complete-game win, striking out six while allowing just one hit and four walks.
BASEBALL
HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, CALDWELL
GREENSBORO – High Point Christian won 14-4 in six innings Tuesday against Caldwell in PTAC baseball at Caldwell.
Whit Butler homered, tripled, doubled and drove in four runs for the Cougars (14-5 overall, 2-3 conference). Brenner Russell had three hits and three RBIs, while Kent Woodward had two hits and two RBIs. Chase Craver doubled and drove in a run, and Caleb Swaim had two hits.
Butler earned the pitching win.
WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, GRACE CHRISTIAN
HIGH POINT – Wesleyan Christian won 11-1 in five innings Tuesday against Grace Christian in nonconference baseball at Wesleyan's Alumni Field.
Cole Bowman had two hits, including a home run, and six RBIs for the Trojans (15-2 overall, 5-0 conference). Mikey Papciak added two hits and two RBIs, while Jesse Covington and Walker Parsons each had a hit and an RBI.
Covington earned the complete-game pitching win, striking out seven while allowing just three hits and one walk.
WESTCHESTER COUNTRY DAY, CALVARY DAY
WINSTON-SALEM – Westchester Country Day fell 6-5 against host Calvary Day in PTAC baseball Tuesday.
Ashton Pittman had two hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats (12-3 overall, 3-1 conference). Ricky Velez added two hits, including a double, while Tyler Mangus had a hit and two RBIs.
Pittman struck out four in 2 2/3 innings pitched, while Cameron Daniel had one in 2 1/3 innings and Velez had two in one inning.
BISHOP McGUINNESS, NORTH STOKES
DANBURY – Bishop McGuinness won 15-4 against North Stokes in nonconference baseball Tuesday at North Stokes.
James Reed had three hits and four RBIs for the Villains (10-6 overall, 6-3 conference). Josh Salas added two hits, including a double, while Julian Lackow had two hits and three RBIs and Noah Walter and Colin Webb each had two hits and two RBIs.
Salas earned the pitching win, striking out two.
EAST DAVIDSON, THOMASVILLE
THOMASVILLE – East Davidson won 11-6 against Thomasville in Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball Tuesday at Finch Field.
The Golden Eagles improved to 8-11 overall and 3-4 in the conference, while the Bulldogs, who got a double and four RBIs from Travail Barnes, dipped to 5-12 and 1-6.
OAK GROVE, GLENN
MIDWAY – Oak Grove won 16-0 against Glenn in Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference baseball Tuesday at Oak Grove.
Addison Terry had two hits and three RBIs for the Grizzlies (12-6 overall, 6-1 conference). Carson Everhart also had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI, while Carson Cromer, Aidan Murphy, Bradley Byrd and Cam Coons each had a hit and an RBI.
Mason Crouse struck out five in 3 1/3 innings on the mound.
RAGSDALE, SOUTHEAST ALAMANCE
HAW RIVER – Ragsdale outlasted Southeast Alamance 3-2 in eight innings Tuesday in nonconference baseball at Southeast Alamance.
Kyle Maness had four hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for the Tigers (11-8). Thristan Figueroa added a hit and an RBI. Ryan Hendricks got the pitching win, striking out five in 3 2/3 innings. Maness also struck out five in 4 1/3 innings.
TRINITY, WEST DAVIDSON
TYRO – Trinity edged West Davidson 2-1 in Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball Tuesday at West Davidson.
The Bulldogs – led by coach Ryan Spencer, who earned his 100th win – improved to 14-5 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
GIRLS SOCCER
HIGH POINT CENTRAL, MONTGOMERY CENTRAL
TROY – High Point Central lost 2-0 against Montgomery Central in PAC Seven 4A/5A girls soccer Tuesday at Montgomery Central. The Bison fell to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, GREENSBORO DAY
GREENSBORO – High Point Christian lost 5-0 against Greensboro Day in PTAC girls soccer Tuesday at Greensboro Day. The Cougars dipped to 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
WESTCHESTER COUNTRY DAY, CALVARY DAY
WINSTON-SALEM – Westchester Country Day lost 7-0 against host Calvary Day in PTAC girls soccer Tuesday. The Wildcats moved to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
BISHOP McGUINNESS, SOUTH DAVIDSON
KERNERSVILLE – Bishop McGuinness won 12-1 over South Davidson in Greater Triad 1A/2A Conference girls soccer Tuesday at Bishop.
Kristen Dixon Velez had two goals and two assists while Laney Heafner had two goals and one assist for the Villains (7-2-1 overall, 3-0 conference). Gabby Willis and Lilly Schultz also scored two goals each.
Olivia Miller and Annabelle Pirkl each had a goal and an assist, while Jetti Shirley and Elizabeth Miller each scored a goal. Lucy Kirkland, Ariana Valle de Simone and Sofia Walter each had an assist.
MacKenna Langdon made one save in goal.
LEDFORD, CENTRAL DAVIDSON
LEXINGTON – Ledford won 6-0 against Central Davidson in PAC Seven 4A/5A girls soccer Tuesday at Central Davidson.
Maggie Eccard and Gracie Johnson, who added an assist, each scored three goals for the Panthers (8-3-2 overall, 6-0 conference). Carmen Hughes dished two assists, while Katelyn Hemric and Qolbe Olson each had an assist. Olson also made four saves in goal.
BOYS GOLF
AT LEXINGTON GC
LEXINGTON – Southwest Guilford defeated Central Davidson 168-182 in nonconference boys golf Tuesday at Lexington Golf Club.
Trey Dickenson shot a 40 to earn medalist and lead the Cowboys. Aidan Gujrati (41), Ryan Lovett (43) and Jaxon Preston (44) also posted counting scores.
AT WINSTON LAKE GC
WINSTON-SALEM – Oak Grove won Tuesday's Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference boys golf match Tuesday at Winston Lake Golf Club.
The Grizzlies, who posted the top four individual scores, shot a team score of 5-under 139 – well ahead of second-place Mount Tabor with a 155.
Brady Steelman shot a 2-under 34 to earn medalist and lead Oak Grove. Aidan Wilson, Lincoln Newton and Tyler Lambert each added a 35.
AT HOLLY RIDGE GL
ARCHDALE – Wheatmore was first and East Davidson was second in Tuesday's Central Carolina 3A Conference boys golf match at Holly Ridge Golf Links.
The Warriors shot a team score of 167 – three shots ahead of the Golden Eagles with a 170. Trinity was fifth with a 211.
Silas Lohr shot an even-par 36 to earn medalist and lead East.
Wheatmore got counting scores from Avery Ivey (40), Collin Dodd (42), Nathan Pope (42) and Max Antignano (43), while the Golden Eagles counted scores from Riley Gooch (39), Micah Faircloth (44) and Gray Owenby (51).
Timothy Butcher (45), Easton Butler (50), Joseph Trahan (57) and Jeremiah Cruz (59) shot counting scores for the Bulldogs.
BOYS TENNIS
SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, SOUTHEAST GUILFORD
PLEASANT GARDEN – Southwest Guilford won 7-2 against Southeast Guilford in nonconference boys tennis Tuesday at Southeast Guilford.
Josh Boger (6-2, 6-2), Kasey Le (6-4, 6-4), Will Wesney (6-0, 6-2), Gavin Emms (6-1, 6-2) and Ben Heineman (6-1, 6-0) won in singles for the Cowboys (6-7). Ben Vikner/Andrew Vo (8-4) and Sahil Banger/Elias Totten (8-1) won in doubles.
HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN, GREENSBORO DAY
GREENSBORO – High Point Christian lost 9-0 against Greensboro Day in PTAC boys tennis Tuesday at Greensboro Day. The Cougars dipped to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the league.

SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, SOUTHEAST GUILFORD
HIGH POINT – Southwest Guilford lost 6-5 against Southeast Guilford in Conference 15 boys lacrosse Tuesday at Southwest.
Will Herman had two goals and an assist, while Evan Knisley had a goal and an assist for the Cowboys (7-7 overall, 4-6 conference). Jayden Farmer and Gavin Crews each scored a goal, while Tristan Lenyon had an assist.
In the girls match, Southwest lost 7-3 to move to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in Conference 10.
BISHOP McGUINNESS, MOUNT TABOR
WINSTON-SALEM – Bishop McGuinness won 17-4 against Mount Tabor in Conference 4 girls lacrosse Tuesday at Mount Tabor.
Emery Grunwald had four goals and an assist for the Villains (11-1 overall, 5-0 conference). MK Suire had three goals and four assists, while Grace Gerber had three goals and an assist. Morgan Aho and Cecilia Drabik each had two goals and an assist.
Stella Ropko also scored two goals, while Ellie Brown had a goal and an assist. Dana Pirkl chipped in two assists. Aveanna Woelfel, who had six saves, and Maddie Edwards, who had two saves, shared time in goal.
HIGH POINT UNIVERSITY
BASEBALL
HIGH POINT – High Point University lost 10-4 against N.C. A&T State University in nonconference baseball Tuesday at Truist Point.
Seojun Oh, who homered, and Jace Kohler each had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers (24-12), who evened the score 4-4 in the third but fell behind 9-4 in the sixth. Jake McCarter also homered.
Mark Salicco (1-1) took the pitching loss, striking out one in 1 1/3 innings.
MEN'S GOLF
SPARTABURG, S.C. – High Point University was sixth out of 13 teams in the Wofford Invitational men's golf tournament Sunday through Tuesday at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
USC Aiken won with a team score of 12-under 280-280-280–840 – six shots clear of South Florida at 279-278-289–846. The Panthers posted a team score of 289-291-285–865.
James Hassell led High Point with a 2-under 72-73-66–211. Burch Harrison (T20, 71-72-71–214), Shlok Jain (T29, 75-72-69–216) and Carter Pitcairn (T32, 73-72-72–217) also posted top-25 finishes.
The Panthers will next play in the Big South championship April 26-29 in Fripp Island, South Carolina.
Ledford won the doubleheader with scores of 15-0 and 18-0 against TW Andrews.
Key players included Cassidy Murray, Alana Herrera, and Kaylee Atwood, each contributing multiple hits and RBIs.
Kaylee Atwood and Hailey Hoots each recorded five strikeouts in their respective games.
Alana Herrera had four hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in five RBIs in the second game.
