The Professional Fighters League on Saturday will return to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and bring perhaps its top star from the area long for the ride.
Former interim Bellator MMA champion and PFL tournament finalist Logan Storley takes on Florim Zendeli in the PFL Sioux Falls main event at the Sanford Pentagon. Storley fell short in his most recent outing, as he dropped a five-round unanimous decision to Thad Jean in the 2025 PFL World Tournament welterweight final on Aug. 1. He has spent his time since the setback focusing on the more violent side of his personality while rediscovering his passion and focus.
âIt was one of those things where we got close. We made some little mistakes during the fight, but [Jean] is a great competitor,â Storley told Sherdog.com. âHeâs a great fighter, and we went back to the drawing board. This is the longest break I think Iâve had in a while, because I had two tournaments back-to-back, so we took a little time off and then me [and my] coaches really did a lot of technical work in the offseason. That was really fun to improve on things that maybe we havenât had time for because we were just fight after fight, and we havenât had time during the grind.
Among those who had an active hand in the process: former Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight titleholder Robbie Lawler.
âWe worked on a lot of adding tools and getting better at things that we were great at, but Robbie and I worked on opening my eyes more to see what I can do. âHow can we hurt people more?â We spent a lot of time doing things like that.â
With nine months in between appearances, Storley views the time away as beneficial.
âI think, for me, it was to take a step back and realize [that] I started to miss it again,â he said. âI know a lot of fighters during the tournament, where it was fight after fight, and thereâs the thought of, âI want to get this done and we got to go do this and then you kind of get this break.â Then you realize how much you miss it and what fighting really means to you. I think I got to enjoy the time off with my family and friends. I got to enjoy my time to improve, but I also got to miss fighting and really appreciate it. This has obviously changed my life for the better, and it was nice to take some time to reflect.â

Zendeli stands as his next challenge. The once-beaten Albanian has rattled off five consecutive victories, highlighted by his rear-naked choke submission of Daniele Miceli in the 2024 PFL Europe welterweight tournament final. Storley sees the match as an opportunity to elbow his way back into contention.
âIf [welterweight champion] Ramazan [Kuramagomedov] is really retired, that leaves Thad, Shamil Musaev and myself, so I have to go out there and I have to do my job,â he said. âThatâs what is most important to me right now. I want to go out there and I want to have a dominant, dominant victory where I get a finish and put myself in line to fight for the belt. I donât know what theyâll do, but I plan to go out there, get a dominant win and put my name in the hat. I want the next title shot.â
Storley, a Roslyn, South Dakota, native supports the changes the PFL has made in 2026. CEO John Martin has taken the lead, making it a point to sell his best fighters close to home.
âI think John Martinâs been great,â Storley said. âI like his excitement. I like what theyâre doing, continuing with international events and continuing to get our big fights in the U.S. Weâre doing about one a month is what it seems right now, and I think thatâs great. Going to the rankings system, being on ESPN, I think thereâs a lot of really good things that are going on, and [we are] going to venues that are sold out. Sioux Falls is going to be packed. The Pittsburgh event was great. The Chicago event looked like it was a great crowd. Going to these places where itâs going to be a packed house and loud on ESPN2 in the U.S., I think all of it is great.â
Storley plans to show improvements in his latest assignment.
âI think theyâll see a very well-rounded version of myself that has some new parts of his game and thatâs looking to hurt people,â he said. âIâm looking to get him out of there, and Iâm really excited to show that.â
