Dylan Volantis and Aiden Robbins from the Longhorns have been named semifinalists for the Golden Spikes award, recognizing them as top amateur players. Volantis has a 2.05 ERA with 105 strikeouts, while Robbins boasts a .350 batting average and 19 home runs.
With the 2026 college baseball season entering its final weeks, two Longhorns stars are making national headlines. On Thursday, Dylan Volantis and Aiden Robbins were named semifinalists for the Golden Spikes award. The honor is given annually to the best amateur player in the country. For the Longhorns duo, it is no surprise that they are in the running.
In his first season as a starter, Volantis has dazzled every time he has stepped on the mound. In 13 games, the California native has posted a 2.05 ERA and struck out 105 batters. While setting a career-high in innings pitched with 74.2, the talented lefty has held opponents to a .188 batting average. That is one of the lowest marks in the SEC.
As Volantis has impressed out of the rotation, Robbins has been on fire at the plate. In 50 games, the Holy Ghost High alum has posted a .350 batting average and driven in 53 runs. He has also shown some power with 30 extra-base hits, including 19 home runs. In his first year in the SEC, Robbins has shown why he is one of the best outfielders in the country.
While the Longhorns have gotten contributions from everyone on the roster, it has been hard to ignore just how valuable Volantis and Robbins have been. Every time Volantis has the ball in his hands, Texas has a good chance of winning, and Robbins has delivered countless huge hits.
Over the next few weeks, the focus for Texas will be on finishing the regular season strong as they chase a national title. During that stretch, Volantis and Robbins will also be keeping an eye on how voting for the Golden Spikes Award plays out.
